We didn't actually get the chance to stay at the hotel as they have refused to let my sister be seen in her wedding dress on the day of the wedding. Now I have never heard of anything like this before and fine if that's what the hotel offer to brides, an exclusive package that they will be the only bride on the day but why not make that clear to my brother in law when he booked the room stating it was for his future wife and bridesmaids and then they would be staying themselves the night of their wedding? Nope this was not explained what so ever and it was only on the off chance of him phoning up for a copy of his receipt (as he had already pre paid the rooms and spa treatments for us all) that we have found out that we will not be able to stay. We have since been trying to find an alternative hotel which has caused them both alot of added stress which my sister struggles with already. As a hotel manager myself this is something I would never let happen at my hotel. You clearly need to train your team on your packages and or what they need to say to potential guests at the time of booking!! My sister has contacted yourselves through Facebook so can the manager please get in touch. Thanks Collapse

Booking was stressful. Trying to add extra treats in the room for the hen was not clear as the prices changed and I'm not sure I got what I should have - I need to query this. Had to book rooms then hope that they had space in the spa as you had to do this separate. Confirmation didn't come through so had to call and get it sent - whoever is admin in the spa was not very accurate and I had to do their job for them by writing out names and times of treatments. I didn't feel very confident until we got there and everything was in order - phew. The spa is small but there was only us and 2 others so was perfect. We were given 3 hours in the wet room and it did go quick. Luckily the weather was lovely so we could make use of the lovely outside area. We then had afternoon tea - which was amazing. And was made even better by JANINE, what a lovely lady!! Loads to eat and lovely tea. We then booked into our rooms which was fine, again I'm not sure my Mum (the Hen) got all that we paid for in the way of treats - Flowers - yes, Chocs - 8 yes! and a selection of wine - 1 bottle?! This is what I ordered... Celebration package £74.50 & White Wine Choice package £30 - seems a lot for what she got. The rooms were 2 singles pushed together but made so that the covers were separate. The pillows were extra comfy! Rooms were big enough with a gorgeous views. I did notice that the soap holder next to the shower was dirty. Dinner was lovely but a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT was that we were told we had £30 towards our dinner - we thought that we had paid for our dinner, it was never mentioned that the meals were going to be individually priced (unlike the cream tea - you pay one price and get everything). This caued a lot of frustration and only to then receive the bill with only £25 off of each of the meals - so we had to battle to get this rectify. Drinks were extortionate and were not made to the same standard. We had cocktails that were quickly rustled up and didn't fill the glass, whereas another time they were ordered there was a lot more in the glass. Lovely seating areas inside and out. I must shout out to ELLIS who is such a pleasant guy! Great personality and worked very hard. Breakfast was delicious, loads to chose from! There was a wedding on while we were there which was thumping out music but luckily we were not there for an early night! Beautiful place, some things more expensive than they should be. Collapse

I came to down Hall for dinner to celebrate my friends birthday with her family. The evening started In the bar and we were greeted by George and a cheeky chappy called Wesley, they had a very comprehensive selection of gins and a member of our party was encouraged to specify exactly how much elderflower cordial she wanted in her presseco both members of bar staff were exceptionally attentive and chatty. We were showed to our table and the waitress ellie spoke about the new menu with excitment as if she had sampled every single dish. The food was absolutely delicious, looked like art on the plat and I have to say was very good value for money, nothing was too much bother for any of the staff, I wanted a sweet instead of the cheese but happened to mention I had never tasted quince jelly that accompanied the cheese so she brought some out for me to sample. we all had a fantastic meal and finished off in the lounge for coffee. I can't say a single bad thing about this hotel, I can't wait to come back for the evening, stay the night and use the spa. Many thanks down hall. Collapse
