Very pleasant hotel, though highway noise could be a problem on lower floors

The hotel is clean and comfortable, and within easy walking distance of Harvard and much of Cambridge and Cambridgeport; less convenient to downtown Boston. The only negatives for me were a somewhat noisy air conditioner and a lot of street noise from the congested highways below. Given that I was about halfway to the top floor and the noise there was "noticeable but not bad," I suspect that noise on lower floors might be a problem for sensitive guests. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Collapse

The hotel itself is fine—nice renovated rooms, comfortable bed, and so on. But my wife and I suffered through a night of extreme construction noise, which the hotel did not warn us about when booking or checking in, and which they made no effort to ameliorate after we told them about it. I overheard another guest asking to move rooms away from the construction and I got the impression that she was not being accommodated. The construction may be at a neighboring lot rather than the hotel itself, but that makes no difference when you’re trying to sleep through the night. Perhaps the hotel will be worth considering once the construction ends. Or perhaps even then you’d be better off at a place that pays more attention to the overall guest experience. Collapse

From the moment I walked up to the front desk and spoke with Derek, who is phenomenal, to the moment when I checked out, I could not complain about the experience I received at this hotel. Rooms were clean, very well furnished. Housekeeping kept the room in perfect condition everyday. I stayed in two different rooms throughout the stay. I initially had a two story loft. Electronically controlled blinds are installed at the main window to control light input so you don't have to go downstairs to close the curtains. There's a small half bath on the first floor, and a larger three quarter bath (no tub) on the second floor. The second floor bathroom is equipped with a "spa shower" but the pipe run is long so it does take a while to get hot water. So watch out for the splash! Room 1620 has access to a terrace, but there's no chairs or tables and the walls are pretty high to enjoy the view while sitting down. Plus there's a big camera installed there to oversee the construction site and it's kind of an eyesore. Also notable is that the sound insulation between the lofts are not as good as expected. It's totally fine during the day where the noise from outside will drown out what will go through the walls. But at night, you can hear the doors opening and closing and people going up and down the stairs. This can be extremely annoying when you got a nightowl in the room next to you and you can hear their music, door slamming, and constant walking up and down the stairs. I got to experience the Presidential Suite also. Very large suite with two bedrooms. There's a common bathroom equipped with a handicap shower, sink and toilet behind a sliding door. Note that the sliding door does not have a lock. The master bedroom has a vanity, and a bathroom with a sink, toilet, tub and shower. The bathroom is a little small though. Both bedrooms feature a TV as expected, and has a view of the Charles River. Right outside the bedrooms is a small dining area with TV and is an excellent place to view the outside in the evening. There's a really comfortable bench seat on the wall. On the opposite side of the living area is another dining room, but much larger. Seats like 8 people. Finally, a kitchenette with a very nice Bosch fridge, sink, dishwasher, and cutlery. Interestingly, they do not provide detergent for the dishwasher so you have to go buy it somewhere if you want to use it. The room also has speakers installed throughout the living spaces, but I couldnt find anything to play music over them. Perhaps it was for the future. Very quiet room, I couldn't hear anyone anywhere. Very expensive but would be worth it to those who crave these luxury and can afford it. Breakfast is a bit expensive for the continental. I didn't have to pay for the continental breakfast as I am a diamond member, but the receipt shows the value at close to 35 dollars. Upgrading to a full hot breakfast that gives you access to the egg station as well as a few other meat options is 6 dollars extra. Stay away from the bacon though, it didn't taste very good on all three days i got to try it. It was fully drenched in oil that tasted stale. Also I wish they would put the OJ on a dispenser like their other juices. Their servers could not keep up with keeping my glass filled. Guest service is phenomenal. Zero complaints in that regard. Noise complaint was handled with the highest urgency and the check in process was delightful. Collapse

Nicer doubletree than many I’ve been to. Modern and clean rooms in excellent shape. Some rooms have pull down Murphy beds which are awesome for older kid who is sharing room and avoids the terribly uncomfortable cots that are so typical. Hotel is not near any restaurants or things to do — pretty tough thing to accomplish in Boston. Driving is hard in Boston anyway and getting to this hotel is extra tough. It’s about half mile walk across bridge to Central Square. Probably closer to BU or parts of Harvard University. If you can get advance room in the low to mid $200s like we did, then it’s a good trade off for nicer location. Make sure to push for high floor or room facing away from river to avoid the loud traffic from Soldiers Field road. Collapse

The hotel is really well located if you are planning to be at Harvard or The Boston University. The facilities are very, very clean and functional. My favorite units were the “23s”. Specially 723 and 823 because the views although they had a humming noise during the traffic but not something that you cannot live with. The location is absolutely perfect and they have a free shuttles around the clock and to the main destinations such as the Aquarium (steps away from Quincy Market), Harvard Square, etc. The drivers are very, very nice and always willing to help. Another great advantage is that they have one of the best Jazz bars in town. Fantastic and well worth it. The breakfast is full on and again the staff is 10! I would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat. Collapse
