I've just stayed here for 4 weeks on business with the rest of my team and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The rooms are big, warm and airy and the beds very comfortable although the down pillows do take some getting used to. The bathroom was spotless with new towels every day if needed. I ate in the restaurant a lot and can't fault the food at all, especially the doom bar cod. Be warned, it's huge! Plenty of choice for everyone for breakfast, with smoothies, fruit, bagels, meats, cheese and cooked breakfast available. Service was always excellent. The facilities are also very good, with a good gym, pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The jacuzzi could do with a bit of a refurb to be honest, but it's still great to dip in to. Lastly, a special word for Kieran who worked at the bar. I asked if our group could have tables and chairs in front of the big TV for the Liverpool/Roma game last Wednesday. We came down to find two big settees and comfy chairs and tables all arranged for us. He waited on us all night with exemplary service. Please give our thanks to him. Collapse

I was here for a two night stay on business, the room was big and confirtable it had all the amenities I needed. Check in was efficient and easy, the warm cookie on arrival was a nice touch! I was relieved to see hotel guest don’t have to pay for parking, though this wasn’t clear from the signs in the car park. I had a room on the ground floor, at the very end of a corridor, it was very quiet which was great, slept well both nights. What was unnerving was that my room door was split near the lock, it looked like it had previously tried to be forced open. It still locked but didn’t seem as secure as I would like when leaving items in the room. I mentioned it to reception who said it had been like it a while, I’m not sure how this helps. They did offer to swap me but to be honest having just sorted everything into my room I didn’t take up, I’m not sure why if they know it wasn’t just fixed. The bathroom was clean and tidy, though on the first morning there was no hot water in the hotel which wasn’t great, I mentioned it to reception they said it was a hotel wide problem and should be fixed soon, but if you have to be somewhere as I did it was cold shower or nothing. This was fixed by Sunday and the shower was fine. The room was made up whilst I was out but the bins weren’t emptied at all whilst I was there. On Saturday evening I decided to eat in the Larder restaurant, I was travellling alone so I found a table and waited for someone to take my order, I was sat for at least 15 minutes waiting for someone to take my order despite repeatedly trying to catch someone’s eye as they walked past, I didn’t want to leave my belongings to go h7nt someone out. When my food arrived the plate was cracked all the way across and the sauce was leaking out of the bottom. This was replaced with a new one, it was only pasta and tomato sauce, it wasn’t great, the consistency of the sauce was paste like, hard to explain a bit like it had potato in. As I was charging it to my room, I signed for the meal when I ordered, I thought it seemed expensive and noted to check my bill as I wasn’t given a receipt. I checked my bill the following day and they had charged a service charge on top, I wasn’t happy but when I raised it with reception they showed my the order I had signed, I hadn’t received any service at that point, even when I said I would not have paid a service charge had I been asked she didn’t remove it. The room and breakfast were good, and I would stay again, though it was £97 a night which is probably the top end of what the room is worth. From my experience I wouldn’t have another evening meal there. Collapse
