What an ignorant and poorly managed hotel this is. Let me start - and lets see if the management actually answer ... with some evidence (i suspect not!) My wife and i attended the spa on Thursday 7th March. Upon arrival we were told the Watsu spa was colder than usual. I had called the previous day and was told all was working well - but i thought - a little colder couldn't hurt. How wrong i was. I would love to know how the hotel define 'a little colder'. The pool and spa facilities are meant to be 39 degrees. Would the Hilton say that 25% colder was a little cooler? My wife and i tried to use the facilities but frankly they were too cold. Things break i accept that - though why they had their roof open to their outdoor spa I do not know. I went to reception to speak to an attendant. She literally couldn't have cared less. No eye contact. No concern. Just a simple... Its broke Sir. After pushing the young lady - 'T' - advised the pool had been fixed and would warm up. As it was nearing lunch , my wife and I decided to go for afternoon tea. ANOTHER DISAPPOINTMENT. The prosecco was flat - the sandwiches stale - and the clotted cream ... well that tasted like a gone off yogurt. I complained to the restaurant but again was given short shift. Is it in your training manual to advise all your staff to not care less or is it something you look for naturally in your employees? We returned to the spa- and guess what? The spa was still cold. We have used multiple spas in the area. I accept that things go wrong. But where was the apology? where was the customer service? At 2 pm having arrived at 10 am we left extremely disappointed. I emailed the hotel that evening with my concerns over the spa and afternoon tea. The spa advised they could offer complimentary use of their facilities again - as long as it was used by June 2019. No one has ever discussed our concerns regarding the afternoon tea. We have been completely ignored. Anyway - this is where i could have left it. Until today. We live about 45 minutes from the hotel and decided to use of complimentary pass today. I called last night to check if all was well - and was greeted by - of course sir. The watsu i asked. Yes sir it is all fine. I arrived this morning and it was again broken. My wife and i were clearly very flat and disappointed. If all is working - this hotel has great potential. But this potential is not being reached. We were offered a coffee and asked to think about what we would do next. Do??? We did not attend the spa today and once again i sent emails that have been so far ignored. If you enjoy a warm spa - good customer services and a tasty afternoon tea - THIS IS NOT THE HOTEL FOR YOU. If you like cold facilities - cold customer services and stale sandwiches.... this is the perfect place. Its a real shame but my concerns could have been better managed. Instead i have been left to rot. I hope the hotel enjoys the same karma. Collapse

I stayed at the Doubletree for 1 night in a standard double room. First impressions were great, I arrived at the venue just after 3pm, to be greeted by Frank on the front desk and he was amazing, I couldn't eat the free cookie, so he offered me something as alternative even though he didn't have too which I thought was a lovely touch. My room was lovely and clean, and the bed was wonderful. I had no problems navigating the aircon and TV, and the alarm clock next to the bed was a lovely touch. I had paid for the breakfast at the hotel the next day, and it was splendid, all hot food, and they were great at topping up the items even before they had run out. There was also a selection of cold meats, cheese, pastries and cereals to chose from too. Collapse

Stopped here for a weekend away recently . On arrival the morning check in staff were lovely , gave us our cookies and advised can’t check in till 3 which is fine . We read few weeks back jacuzzi wasn’t working to our disappointment it’s still not working which is not very good. We then thought we’d book a table at the Marco Pierre restaurant went in to the restaurant waited ages for a member of staff ,then a lady finally came over to us and just sort of stared to say what do you want . No hello how are you today , you know the normal customer service you would expect . Restaurant was fully booked , asked for next day she said fully booked . Asked her how long would take to get to Chester town so we could go and eat she just said I don’t know ! So that was that . Went back to reception and the helpful receptionist gave us a town map so we could find some where to eat . They are a lot friendlier then the night shift receptionist who didn’t even smile or say hello when we approached receptionist . Room was not what we expected , it was very tiny and really dark :( mattress was so hard and pillows were dreadful was the worst nights sleep on both nights :( We ate at the hotel garden restaurant on he night , the food was ok and rather over priced for what it was .My partner had fish and chips , it was more batter than fish and was really expensive for what he got served! After we thought we’d try the bar out .Tom the barman and the other lads on the bar were very friendly and helpful , and we highly recommend you try the cocktail menu. Breakfast was lovely and hot very tasty and lots of cereals and fruit to choose from so that was a bonus :) Unfortunately due to the customer service at the hotel it has lead me to give 3 stars sorry and I won’t be returning again to the hotel .
