Hotel location was great for Chester Zoo. Looks lovely and reception staff were very friendly. However in room, children's bed was not ready, food found on floor behind one chair, sunglasses from previous guest on another chair, and sweet found stuck to the carpet. Batteries had gone on both remotes for televisions and air conditioning would not stay on. Staff very good and sorted out all problems quickly but general state of room was unacceptable. Evening restaurant menu limited especially children's menu which had a choice of only 3 things. Reception staff cleared the restaurant bill on departure due to issues with room and again were very good. Overall, hotel and room looked lovely, all staff very helpful but limited menus in restaurant and general cleanliness of room was awful. Collapse

We were part of a wedding group that had pre-booked several rooms at a discounted price several months earlier. On arrival we were presented with warm cookies, which is quite novel and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Check in was so easy. The room was spacious and well equipped with en suite and tea/coffee making facilities that was well stocked. Fully air conditioned and very quiet even though the hotel was under expansion work. I contacted the hotel the morning prior to our departure from home and after requesting it, the receptionist arranged a return taxi to and from the wedding location (which was a fantastic price and bang on time) We had a bed and breakfast tariff and the breakfast was very good quality and a good selection of hot and cold foods. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall a very pleasant stay and I would recommend this hotel. We intend to go back for a longer stay and make use of the spa facilities sometime in the near future. Collapse

A wonderful hotel. We stayed in a suite which was brilliant and very spacious. It was our daughter's 8th birthday, staff had placed a slate with a birthday message and 3 small cakes in our room on arrival, a lovely touch. They also placed a lit candle in her dessert after dinner. Our air con had broken so the first night was very hot, the staff did their best to resolve the issue and for the 2nd night it partially worked. We were offered the opportunity to switch rooms but we asked for fans which made the temperature overall ok. We were very pleasantly surprised on check out to find we'd been refunded one nights stay. The issue was handled impeccably. We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, food and service were excellent. We look forward to returning, Thank you for making our daughter feel so special on her birthday. Collapse

We booked this hotel for a party of 6 (3 couples) for my mums 60th birthday. Overall the hotel is fine but there are some niggles. Cleanliness: The entire hotel and rooms are very clean and tidy. Reception: staff are lovely at reception. My sisters room a was not quite ready so they were given free access to pool and gym for the weekend. Spa/pool & gym: We were informed at reception that the gym is complimentary for Hilton Honours members so my husband and myself signed up. However, when we tried to go in we were told that this is only for Silver members (4+ visits) it was £15 per entry per room/couple. I think this is very very expensive for a rather small pool and gym. There was only one lane of the pool roped off for adult swimming and I felt rather uncomfortable passing strangers so closely whilst swimming. My husband and I also tried to access the expensive facilities on the Saturday morning at 7.30 before my group met for breakfast at 8.30 but were told that it does not open until 8am - far too late for us. Bar: when my parents arrived we met them in the bar for a drink, however one bar did not serve cocktails so we went to the other to be informed it was not open for a further 10 minutes, I would have been fine with this but there was no signs indicating this so it was a little annoying. At this point amateur hour started and did not stop. The drinks were ordered and brought over - the cosmopolitan was very good. However we wanted some snacks as we booked a table for dinner quite late so I asked if they had any bar snacks and the member of staff mumbled a few sentences which none of us caught. We presumed he had gone to get menus but then he did not come back! About 5 mins later I went to the bar and he said he had already told me the options, I was still having trouble understanding him as he was talking quietly and mumbling. I asked for a menu and ordered olives and bread from the main menu as there was no bar snacks. We ordered another round of drinks which seemed very confusing to the member of staff, he order back wrong then sill brought the order out wrong! Breakfast: the breakfast buffet was good, there was lots of choice from fry-up, to fruits to cereal and pastries. The toaster had broken for the second day which was irritating more because the staff didn't seem to know how to cope with it. They should have been taking orders for toast when they seated people but this did not happen meaning they were getting called over to various tables repeatedly. Also on the second morning we saw someone else having eggs benedict. I asked for the same order and my dad asked for some kippers about 5 mins later the member of staff returned saying that if I anted ham on my eggs benedict it would be £3 without ham it was included in the price of the breakfast, the kippers were also £3! I ordered the breakfast without the ham and my dad did not order the kippers as we did not wasn't to spend anything extra. This would all have been much easier to deal with if there had been menus on the table! Location: 10 mins drive from the zoo, £6-£12 taxi to centre depending on time of day. I would not return to this hotel because of the staff and the price of the gym and facilities. Collapse

Booked using Hilton Honors (free to sign up to) and got a 2 night B&B stay for a great discounted price! Arrived and was told our room wasn't quite ready so we were offered free drinks in the bar and a cookie each too. This was great after spending the day walking round Chester Zoo (10 mins drive away). Room was as expected, clean and tidy and had everything we needed. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised at the choice on the menu - can recommend the stone baked pizza! Really lovely and we ate in the restaurant on the second evening too. Staff were attentive but not overbearing. The only slight issue we had was with the pool/changing rooms - you have to go down a floor to the pool which we only realised as we came out of the changing room in only our swimmers! Could have done to take a towel or robe and maybe some flip flops! Aside from that a lovely stay and would recommend the hotel. Collapse

It is a lovely place to relax in the green. You can do sport or chill in the pool. In my opinion; if you want to best enjoy without kids, you must prefer this location. Besides you should try steakhouse in the hotel
