On arrival at the hotel we were somewhat disappointed with our room although very nice it was at the end of a very long corridor but when my husband spoke to reception a very nice manager showed us three other rooms one of which we were happy to accept. The food and staff were excellent and would be happy to recommend this hotel. The only downside was I was hoping for a facial but there were no available appointments so would recommend booking before arrival. Collapse

Hotel located a short distance from Cheltenham town centre, overlooking a small lake and surrounded by lush gardens. Room was clean and had all facilities that we required. Hotel staff were pleasant and efficient and the food i.e. evening meal and breakfast were excellent. During our stay we made use of the Health Club facilities which were of a high standard. Would not be afraid to book a stay in the future. Collapse

This is the third time I have visited and we fancied a night away and I thought it would be the ideal place, but it has changed. When we booked in I was unimpressed as the staff are normally very cheerful, but the whole atmosphere left a lot to be desired. We dined in as we had been shopping, the normally decent menu had been reduced to only THREE ITEMS, had we not been tired I would have left and ate out. The room was one of the larger ones, pretty clean, and I had a good nights sleep. The food at Breakfast was alright as far as it goes, but there wearn't many Staff serving, and those there were, were running around like idiots. Having waited ten minutes for service, I spoke to a Manager in the restaurant and he admitted that there had been changes, and that they were doing their best. When we left I didn't feel like it was the same vibrant place I had visited just a few months ago, I will probably come back in the summer, and hope that it gets it's sparkle back. Collapse

This is my second stay at the Hotel. Stayed before Christmas and had a great time. Room was just massive in the old part of the hotel and my dinner was amazing. Stayed this week and the experience was just not the same. Was in a room overlooking the garden and it was more than adequate. Hotel staff were pleasant but not as good as Christmas time. Breakfast was short of staff. Had to wait for table, toast and juice. Dinner the second night same story. Few other people eating, but just seemed an effort to find someone to get a beer. Spoke to the maitradee who really apologised and said sorry, and agreed he should have had more staff there but he had his hands tied... Not sure as he then had to run off. Not sure if it was the festive period that made everyone happy but there was a different feel around the place. No sparkling smiles. I know this sounds odd, but it’s all I can put it down to. Hopefully just the weather and the spring will bring a better time for me in May. Collapse

Friendly welcome and yummy cookie or fruit, wasn’t expecting that so was pleased. Had booked a superior room with lake view for 2 nights, and we had room 301. As these rooms are ground / garden level, you can’t see the lake, so not really a lake view, just a fence with a life bouy attached to hint of the water feature behind it. Also the room was next to the dining room, the wall extended out directly adjacent to the windows and attached to the wall were 2 loud and rattly air con machines, which didn’t allow for a restful mornings sleep at all. The room was opposite the main doorway from the stairs (there’s no lift) in to the level, the doors are fire doors and swing shut quite forceably, creating a bang and also rattling the door to the room, not good in what is a busy thoroughfare. The rooms were tidy and clean, shower had low pressure but enough. Bed was clean and comfy. Had breakfast on both mornings, varied enough, freshly cooked, good choose of cooked, cold, breads, cereals and fruits etc, couldn’t fault it. Bar prices were high, but then that’s to be expected I guess? Overall - 3/5, a good stay marred by feeling overcharged for a room where the promoted features don’t feature and being disturbed by numerous noise annoyances. Collapse
