This was a surprise trip to Venice through weekender breaks paid £218 for 4 nights added extra for breakfast about £15 for the stay. Was very doubtful after reading sone reviews aboyt staying here but honestly you can not go wrong with this hotel for the price we paid. Hotel is nice big comfy rooms with a fridge and safe. We didn't have any problems with the heat in the room was just right for us. Spent quite a lot of time sleeping after a long day in Venice and the beds were very comfy. Bus from right outside the hotel €3 each return which was enough for us each day. The breakfast was absolutly fine bacon, eggs, cereal, juice, croissants, yoghurt, rolls, meats and cheese. Must say the chocolate croissants were amazing according to my other half had about 4 a day. I would 100% reccomend this hotel for a stay if you don't mind a 10 minute bus journey into Venice. Also there is a lovely curry house about 10 minute walk called Bombay spice also supermarket right next door and a spar and mcdonalds the other side. Collapse
Good all round hotel, but with a little problem (for me anyway)

We stayed at the Delfino for 3 nights, had an excellent deal with S.E. We had been to Venice before, and for this greatly reduced cost we were quite happy to be on the other side of the bridge and commute in. The good points are definitely the staff, so helpful on reception, we bought a two day travel pass which proved invaluable. Also, the receptionists we're very helpful with directions and advice. The public spaces, lifts and indeed the room were spotlessly clean and comfortable. The location on a busy main road, (we asked for and were given a quiet room at the back away from the traffic) proved to be ideal for getting in and out of Venice. Just tap your travel pass as you get on the bus and you're off, then again on the water bus once you get over the bridge. So efficient, and literally the bus stop is right outside the hotel and buses run every ten minutes, though you're not always guaranteed to get a seat, but it's only a short trip to get across to Venice. The carnival had just started when we there, lots of people in costumes and a parade of gondolas and floats on the grand canal. Our water bus had to pull over to one side to let the parade pass, so, we had an excellent view. Amazing. The breakfast at the delfino is pretty basic but adequate, but I must say, the coffee and croissants were first class. There is no bar, but you can walk next door to the sister hotel and have a drink there, we ate there two nights too. There was a wonderful waiter, who whilst totally professional was so funny and friendly towards us. On the other side of the hotel is a great supermarket, which sells everything, even fresh courgette flowers for cooking I might add ! So, all good up to now, then we get to the part which spoiled our stay at the Delfino. As we arrived, quite tired from the travelling, we ate next door at the sister hotel then needed an early night, so we could be up and over to Venice early the next day. I noticed the room was very warm, but expected it would cool down as the night wore on. The a/c fan was quite loud too, but we were tired and fell asleep. I woke at 2am feeling quite ill, dry mouth, sweating, dizzy, banging headache. Couldn't quite figure out what was wrong with me, then as I got out of bed to find some water, the heat hit me. Unbearably, excessively hot, and the noise of the fan/ac was awful too. We tried and failed to turn down the heat using the control panel, it didn't work. Flung open the window and stood in front of it for a good while till I felt cooler. Nodded off again at about 5 am for a couple of hours. Even with the window wide open and it being January, the room was still hot. My husband went down to reception to ask that either the control panel be fixed or we were moved to another room, with less (or even no) heat and fan noise at night. He was told that the control panels were disconnected and that reception controlled each rooms' heat and she said she had turned it off for our room. Later on, we mentioned it again, as there was very little difference. We were told that it would take a little longer for the room to cool down. Anyway, for the next two nights we had to sleep with the window wide open (in January !) it helped a bit, but still the heat was noisily being pumped out from the grill next to the bed. So, all 3 nights were very uncomfortable, with poor sleep and much water being drunk, and standing in front of the open window in the small hours. Now, I do appreciate the hotel trying to keep its guests warm and comfortable in chilly January, but speaking for myself (and many others I would guess), I prefer a cool and quiet bedroom to sleep in. Why the hotel goes to the expense of blasting out excessive heat throughout the whole night is beyond me. Just keep it comfortably warm during the day and turn it OFF at night. Alright, moan over, as I said, we got a a great deal on this hotel, and if we could have slept comfortably in a cooler and quieter room, it would have been so much better, as everything else was just fine. Maybe it won't bother others as much, or much better, the hotel take note and just turn it down and save on their heating bill as well ! Collapse

This was our third time to this hotel and some things have changed, and not for the good. While the room is still up to great standards, the breakfast buffet is less than desirable. Most of the food was lukewarm at best including the coffee. The service was poor and not as clean as it once was. The location however remains one of the best. Just next door is a great grocery where you can also buy wine and spirits besides food . Just down the street is a fabulous place for gelato which we had everyday. Across the street from the hotel and just left at the first street is an amazing restaurant. Reservations are necessary and you will be surprised at the quality of the food and the service. Collapse

Great value hotel that is close to transport that will take you into Venice. The hotel was within walking distance to restaurants and clubs. The staff were lovely and the rooms were clean and tidy. Worth the stay for sure
