We stayed at this hotel a full week with a group from israel. Before arrival we emmaile a request for top floor and view to city center and they responded fast and nicely and so we got the room as we asked for. We at breakfast and dinner at the hotel every day. Great food. Great service. Free wifi is there. No issue. TV has local channels only but we did not use. Room cleaned every day. Towels changed In room facilities are proper and accomodating No fault. It may not be those new modern hotel. But even if its a bit old, its very comfortable. I would call it a hotel with history. Its clean, comfortable, the size of the room is good also. One thing that impressed me was the staff in this hotel. They are very warm and friendly. Laura in front desk especially, understand what the guests need to make our stay more comfortable. I did stay in another more modern hotel in Rovaniemi, but when I come back to this city, I will stay in Cumulus Polar. Collapse

I was here for 6 nights with a group.Yes the hotel is old but has a warm atmosphere. Don't turn it into another modern hotel, keep its style as is. It is spotlessly clean and the staff are so helpful and welcoming. You get what you ask for the moment you have ended asking for it. The only thing I'd suggest is renovating the closet space a bit though quite honestly those little "gaps" did not bother me. Give furniture a lift-up or just new upholstery especially in lobby area. There is free Wi-Fi all over the hotel even right outside the main entrance. There is a pool - I was told the water was cold - & sauna though I never went down there due to a tiring heavy schedule everyday. Room gets cleaned everyday & if you like you can get extra towels just ask for them. Fresh towels are provided on a daily basis. The room is big enough & has a kettle with tea & coffee. Bathroom is convenient & very clean - no tub just shower but personally I prefer that. You can use the safe by reception - there is no safe in the room. Shampoo & washing gel are provided & I even had 2 hair blowers :-)) Very centrally located but no noise since on a side street so any room facing anywhere is fine. You are right in the center of town with a max 5 minute walk from anywhere. It is just off the main street & 2 minutes away from Oscar's & Hemingway's bars. Or turn the other way around & hit shops & coffee places & the mall. The riverside is also a stone's throw away. I was out exploring the area most of the day but started it with the amazing buffet breakfast - something for every nationality to choose from. Variety of breads & those croissants!!! bacon, yogurt, jam, cereal, salad, cheese, pancakes, fresh brewed coffee, tea, juice... you name it. Also enjoyed tasty buffet dinners every night. Prepare yourself for plenty of salmon done in different ways as well as a choice of meat every evening - meatballs, hamburger, chicken or stew. Their sauces are a must! Soup lovers will have a variety as well. Sweet tooth? There is always a desert - my favourite was the mousse. Thank you chef Sami: everything you touch is super tasty! Even a simple potatoe puree becomes delicious under your hands. And you even helped me with crazy Israeli what we call "mud coffee" by boiling the water for me on the spot then pouring it over the coffee :-)) Receptionists are so eager to help & make sure you enjoy your stay. Thank you so much: Teija - so much knowledge & experience from having lived in other countries too. Thanks for telling me which sports store to shop at. Ella - I begged you to phone me in the morning because I am bad with wake up calls & you did it especially for me in spite of your electronic system. Laura who not only chatted with me but when coming in for her shift saw me by the entrance & excitedly called me to come towards her in the street because the aurora could be seen in the city. Pertti whom I drove crazy on my last day prior to check out & who helped me by giving me plastic bags for packing. Thank you each & everyone whose name I cannot remember, like the wonderful lady who cleared our table so quickly & has been doing that for the past 40 years. She is going on pension in 2 years' time & said she would continue doing so till then! This just shows that the staff too is happy to work there- watch her carry all those plates at the same time. Hotel is situated in the heart of Rovaniemi, minute's walk from Lordi's Square which was very handy especially if freezing. The decor seemed dated compared to their other hotels across Finland, almost like it was the 70s. But that's not really a problem at all. Breakfast buffet was the same as most hotels, basic, but enough. Smoking lounge in lobby was fine and good idea. Collapse

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a comfortable and good stay. The hotel is a bit dated and the reception area is quite dark (it all looks quite 70’s!) but it was nice and warm throughout with friendly staff and everything worked. The beds were really comfortable so I slept really well and there was plenty of choice for breakfast. Our room was cleaned every day and fresh towels provided. It was nice and quiet too – we didn’t hear noise form any other guests. Location wise it’s about 2 minutes walk from shops/bars/restaurants etc. It’s nothing amazing and could do with a bit of updating but that doesn’t really matter if you’re just using it as a base to explore from and it offers good value for money as long as you aren’t expecting luxury. We’d stay again if we go back. Collapse
