My husband and I along with our adult daughter stayed here for three nights. It's so well located and is an easy walk from the train station (no need for a taxi) and to the Mirabell Gardens and not too much further to the old town. The staff were very friendly and helpful with their suggestions of what to see and how to get around Salzburg. I would definitely recommend this hotel and their staff. We'll be back again! Collapse

The Imlauer Hotel Pitter was fabulous. Modern, updated, rooms and bathroom. Beautiful entrance and in a great location. Breakfast was fantastic, staff very friendly and helpful. The beds were super comfortable. Taxi service is literally minutes away when the front-desk calls for you. Easy walking distance to the old part of the city and other areas of shopping and dining. We needed a hotel that could accomodate three people (two adults and a 17 year old) in one room; our room with a king bed and rollaway was perfect. We were in Salzburg for two nights at the end of March. Our room was very warm; however, because of the time of year, the AC wasn't yet in operation. The hotel staff brought us a nice floor fan that was both cooling and fanstastic for white noise. Will definitely book this hotel again the next time I'm in Salzburg. Collapse
Problems, should not have happened though they were dealt with

I'd like to be able to give this hotel 5 stars but I can't. We had some serious issues and though they were dealt with, they should not have occurred in the first place. We turned up and parked next to the building works going on at the hotel just as the builders were finishing for the evening. We had booked a superior room and on check in the clerk said "let me find you a nice room". We settled into the room, unpacked, ate a lovely dinner in the hotel and then returned to the room and slept. At 7am we were awoken by the very loud thumping of building works starting. The entire room was shaking and sleep was impossible, even discussion was difficult. We later saw outside that the cause was the old Crown Plaza sign being removed (it looked very difficult). We put up with it for around an hour then called reception. They advised that they had asked the builders not to start so early but they "do what they like". The lady we spoke to said she was surprised and annoyed by the builders action and the amount of the noise as it is not normally like that. She could offer us another room on the quiet side of the hotel, even a choice, if we showered, dressed and had breakfast then went to see her. She could not tell us why the clerk had allocated us that room knowing that building work was taken place, or why it had not even been mentioned as a possibility. So, we went to use the shower only to find out that the water pressure was low and then stopped part way through. Another call to reception brought a promise of a call back, which happened in just a few minutes to tell us that the water had been cut off to a number of rooms including ours, owing to a leak the previous evening that had damaged some rooms. Again, she could not tell us why we were not told of this and apologised. We were given another room key to have a room to shower in, in that room the shower head would not stay up and needed to be hand held. After a very nice breakfast (they are very good) we went to reception. We were offered the presidential suite, would we like to take a look. Very large (perhaps too large for the two of us) but with a very small shower and again, the shower head would not stay up of its own accord, so we turned it down. We were then given a junior suite which was perfect for the rest of our stay. Staff were nothing but polite and helpful throughout the trip. Facilities other than those mentioned above were very good. One day our room was barely cleaned, the bins were not even emptied. Food in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was very good on every occasion. The building noise, though substantially quieter never went away and started early every morning, though smashing the old sign off the wall on the first day was the really noisy thing. Why that had to start at seven and why the hotel could not control the builders, I cannot begin to fathom out. I also cannot work out why we were not told of the issues before we found them out for ourselves and why we were allocated a room right next to the building work. On check out, we did have a dinner and three nights parking taken off the room without the need to argue or discuss and I would always like to think that a good hotel can be measured by how well it deals with problems. In this case they dealt with them well. A great hotel might not let those problems happen though, from booking us in a poor room, to not stopping the builders working, to not telling us about the water problem, to having shower heads that didn't work etc. Hence, 4 stars and not 5 - and at the prices that are charged and the reputation they want, they should be aiming for 5.
