....below average. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights while he attended a conference. When we arrived at 4:15 pm, a broken room key machine meant we had no keys for the first hour and half of our stay.....making it tricky to leave and return to our room. The room needed a substantial upgrade, from a mildewed shower to a running toilet to a musty carpet to an A/C system that cycled on and off all night. When the room had not been serviced by 4:30 on our second evening, I had to call housekeeping. And on the last evening, weekend partiers arrived, making the halls boisterous at 2 am. In short, I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you desperately wanted to be near Bourbon Street. The one plus: the staff was kind and apologetic. Collapse

We were encouraged when we were greeted as loyalty members and only had about hour wait for our room. But then it went downhill the room they placed us in was noisy and to be fair they did advise us it was close to elevator but said if we didn’t like to let them know and they would move us. We went up and unpacked and laid down for a rest. We then realized how loud room was between constant elevator noise, noise from hotel fan system below our window and the ice machine. Called down to front desk they had nothing to move us to said they would call me back by 4. We had dinner reservations at 5 Nobody called. I left messages. We finally were able to move room after returning from dinner. Better location. Room is good size, clean, bed is high. No towel bars in bathroom. Supply of towels is limited and had to call for spare sets. Overall hotel is good location. Service is so so Bar is overpriced we were charged 6 dollars higher for same drink we ordered at a fine restaurant. Collapse

After only staying in Marriott's, this hotel was GREAT! The front desk staff was very friendly and we got our room very quick considering it was Mardi Gras weekend. We were in the Alexa tower and the rooms looked so much better than they did in the pictures online. Everything was clean and we had no issues. The best part of this hotel is the bell man and front desk. When we checked in and had our luggage brought up to us we were messing with the bell man Kevin, joking around and telling him to get us some beer. 20 minutes later, there is Kevin with a six pack. He was great as well as everyone else. We did not have to wait long for someone to come up to the room with a cart so we could check out with everyone else in the hotel leaving at the same time. Would definitely stay here again. Collapse

I am an IHG Spire Elite member who spends 150 nights a year in hotel rooms. This is the worst hotel in the United States for its price. Here are the highlights: 1. No room service for a week. At one point I was calling the Front Desk, Manager and Guest Services every hour seeking an update on when I could get towels or the room cleaned, nobody answered or returned messages. Not once. So if you aren't willing to wake up at 7 am on vacation to have your room cleaned, they won't come back. I found the cleaning lady in the hallway and was told, "I get off work in 20 minutes, I'll come back at 8 am tomorrow" (she never did). 2. Hidden fees. The hotel implemented this orange wristband policy. Even if you had your room key and id, you couldn't enter the hotel if your name wasn't on the original reservation. My niece stays 45 minutes away and wanted to come by and visit for an hour, grab coffee and show me her recent paintings. Hotel security told her "go away or go to jail, NOW." I came down and explained she was just stopping by for an hour and they pointed to the Starbucks across the street and told us to go there, unless I wanted to purchase a security wristband for her for $100 cash only. 3. The room. I booked a Suite for the week, it was pathetic. No mini-fridge, small, dirty, and smelled like someone pissed in it if you let it get warm enough. No room changes were permitted and I was told it's "just how old hotels smell." I asked to be relocated to another IHG property in town and was told everything was booked and a refund would not be permitted. 4. Everything was "out of order." The pool, the fitness room, the restaurant. Everything was closed for Mardi Gras, the hotel was nothing more than an overpriced motel 8 bed to sleep on. I've never seen a hotel use being a full capacity as an excuse for shutting everything down and treating everyone like garbage before - go to any Super Bowl or World Cup and the staff are actually happy to have a full, vibrant, hotel. As an IHG Platinum Elite member, I’ve stayed at multiple properties from the cheapest Holiday Inn Express to luxury properties that include the Intercontinental & Crown Plaza. Let me begin by acknowledging that this stay corresponded with Mardi Gras. With that said, I am fully aware of the additional obstacles that brings. What I can’t dismiss is that the hot water in the shower never lived up to its name. Keep in mind that we showered as early as 6am and as late as 10pm, with a cold to luke warm stream. Secondly, the ice machine on our floor didn’t work for the six nights we were there. Third, the room safe “reset” itself twice and we had to wait until security came, at a minimum of 30 minutes each time. On day three we returned to our room around 6pm to discover that it had not been serviced. When we called the front desk we were told that housekeeping had already left. When pressed, their response was “its towels and trash only.” Our response was, “then get some to do it.” When we returned around 11pm, the entire room had been cleaned, along with the trash & towels. The last and largest concern was them assigning our room to someone else two days after our arrival. Imagine your wife alone in the hotel room and someone opens the door and enters while she was in a state of undress. The Manager on Duty was apologetic and blamed the person at the front desk for not completing the checkin. How does that happen? We had been in the room for two days using our two keys and you randomly reassign our room? There were a couple of highlights that I need to mention. The bellmen were outstanding. At both checkin and checkout we didn’t have to wait five minutes. Considering we were told that over 300 people were checking out on the same day....Great Job! Secondly, the room itself was impeccably cleaned (except the one day). There were always attention to detail - pillows fluffed, folded blanket at the foot of our bed, extra towels and even the windows were wiped down. Again, I offer kudos for the room attendant. In summary, I felt there were gaps in hotel leadership, processes and security. This is not a property that I would ever stay at again nor recommend. Collapse
