Just had 3 nights here and it was superb. Early check in was much appreciated as I’d been travelling since 4am. Thank you to Dong the very helpful and friendly receptionist who sorted out our parking problem (extra large vehicle). Saw Dong a couple of times during our stay and he was always cheerful and all smiles. We had a river view room 5th floor, quiet and immaculately clean with everything you would need. Breakfast was good - fresh croissants and excellent coffee were the best. Loved every minute. Quick bus ride into the city, restaurants in the doorstep, Vélo’v bike station right there and the park is amazing. We spent hours cycling round and it was fab. We’d definitely go back again as it’s away from the hustle of the city. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay perfect Collapse

Went for the women’s World Cup finals and the hotel was a great location for this purpose but other than restaurants nearby there was little else around without getting a driver. Clean rooms and really nice reception staff, good check in and even though we were early we were able to access one of our rooms which helped when we had been traveling for many hours. The room service was ok but had trouble getting the orders correct and the drinks bar was very slow to serve and we did have to search for staff to get service. Overall I would use this hotel again, I think it was a busy time and so in fairness to all the staff it is difficult to be everywhere for everyone. Collapse
Solid business hotel

Common areas bit too sterile and business like - but rooms fine and very friendly and attentive breakfast service, unusual in this type of hotel, and in FRance. Very personnel. Rooms well fitted and quiet overlooking the river

The location is great if you want to go to the neighboring park, which is huge and very relaxing place. It’s fun to watch French families and friends enjoy the park. But otherwise, the location is inconvenient for tourism. For example, it took 45 minutes and a transfer to take the metro/bus back from the large shopping center at the Confluences. The Crowne Plaza is in a complex designed by Renzo Piano and has a modern exterior. But the hotel rooms are cramped and not the kind of rooms you want to spend much time in. Our room had a south-facing balcony which was great for drying our clothes, but with 90 degree weather, it was too hot to sit out there. The free WiFi is very inconsistent, at best 20 MBps but most often as low as 1-6 MBps. I often had to turn off WiFi on my phone. The complex is really a business conference center. There are a lot of small restaurants, but for dinner, they don’t open until 7:00 PM. There is a contemporary art museum which I found very interesting, and it has a tiny museum store, but otherwise the complex has no retail, no services, no market. Across the pedestrian bridge, there is a laundromat 0.3 miles away. The hotel laundry is quite expensive, as seems to be the case in Paris and Lyon. The room had a very strange shower door that leaked lots of water onto the floor no matter what I did. Other travelers in our group had the same complaint. The bathroom has no towel racks, only one hook. They do provide bathrobes, which is nice. The fitness center is small and the weight machine was broken the entire week we were there. The free weights are adjustable, not a weight rack of fixed dumbbell sizes. That’s kind of a pain to keep adjusting the weights. For running, it is great to run around the park. The outer loop is 2.4 miles, the inner loop around the lake is 1 mile. The trails are mostly clay, with some asphalt (about 20% of the loops). There are lots of runners out there all the time, as the trails are mostly shaded by trees. The buffet breakfast here was included in our stay and was excellent - large array of meats, hot food, fresh fruit, juice, breads, dried fruit. No oatmeal or bran. It turns out there is another large shopping center closer to the hotel, but I didn’t know that soon enough. BTW, if you take the metro, your ticket is good for 1 hour. A big problem for us is that Apple and Google Maps would not do transit routing. And I guess no one makes paper transmit maps easily available, so print yours at home. Uber is available in Lyon, but very expensive and not a lot of drivers. We went to the Musée of Beaux Arts, near the City Hall. An Uber back to the hotel would have cost 13 euros and we would have waited at least 10 minutes, but the taxi was right there and 10 euros. And as I say, without a routing app, we couldn’t figure out where the bus stop was. Our room was booked as part of group travel, but if I were to go to Lyon on my own, I would pick a hotel closer to downtown or Vieux Lyon. Collapse
