We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay in the Crown Plaza Hotel in Kensington. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was very good. The location of this hotel is ideal as it is just around the corner from the entrance to Gloucester Road Tube Station and there is also a bus stop at the Tube Station, where you can get the London Tour Bus. We booked 2 rooms for 3 nights, Monday to Thursday. My daughters room had a nice view over the garden and “beach, ” ours had a view of large air conditioning units to the left, and the side of an adjacent building directly out of the window. One bathroom was spacious, though ours was very cramped, so little space available that even the toilet roll holders had been fixed to the side of the bath!! We travel internationally on a regular basis and have never seen this before. After using the shower both toilet rolls and the toilet seat were wet. The shaving mirror was impossible to use as it was positioned sideways. And Was so close to the wall it couldn’t turn and the only way to use it was to stand between the very small gap between the toilet and the wash basin. My daughters was the same plus she had no seal on the shower screen thus flooding the bathroom upon using the shower for the first time. She resorted to putting towels on the floor to stop the water from going underneath the door. The skirting boards were very tired looking and badly scuffed as was the inside of the wardrobe. The coat hangers were in a pretty bad condition too, very tatty. If my husband was working at the desk I had to climb over the bed to get past, even with the desk chair tucked in it the space was very limited and trying to reach the bathroom during the night in the dark was like tackling an assault course. The staff however were very friendly, especially at breakfast. Good outdoor facilities including a “beach” and some nice dining domes. The Grenfell garden is a nice touch. We have stayed at this hotel many times and I’ve even reviewed it before, singing its praises though this time the room was very disappointing ,and for a price tag of £300+.per night I would definitely expect a better quality room and view. We have stayed at this hotel regularly and it is in a very convenient location. However the rooms need some TLC, especially the bathrooms, wardrobe and skirtings. I have never stayed in a hotel where the toilet roll is fixed to the side of the bath/shower. Needless to say when you climb out of the shower the toilet paper gets wet! Shaving mirror placed in a position that it’s unusable. The bathrooms need upgrading. Collapse

These high reviews leave me dumbfounded! Our family travels to Europe every summer, and we’ve been fortunate to enjoy some wonderful hotels. But for the prices this Crowne Plaza is charging, we expect a lot more! You need two things in a hotel above all, a nice shower and a comfortable bed. We didn’t get either one. They have the worst shower we’ve ever used, with low water pressure, water pooling at your feet as you stand in your own filth in a painfully narrow tub. The beds are the worst we’ve ever slept on, all of us developing back problems during our stay. The mattresses are horrendous, and the pillows are even worse! I don’t know how they expect a couple to sleep in the world’s narrowest bed! The room is terribly small, and after that long flight overseas where you’ve landed at 8:00 in the morning, they won’t let you check in until 3:00 p.m., so you’ll be sleeping on lobby couches. There is no free breakfast, despite the exorbitant prices they’re charging. The WiFi never worked for any member of the family. Collapse

This hotel is perfectly situated for tube and bus access and is a quick and easy walk to the Royal Albert Hall. Although there was a little noise transfer between the walls, it did not impact our sleep. The beds are extremely comfortable and although we faced the street, we did not hear any noise from outside. A nice touch was 2 bottles of water provided daily which the hotel does not charge for, as well as the cookies and chocolate bar with the coffee/tea in the room. Chiara at the front desk checked us in and checked us out and was an absolute delight. She seemed to take a genuine interest in us and was extremely pleasant to deal with. She is a great asset to the front desk. The hotel has a "secret" beach which is unusual and I wish we had the chance to try it. The bar is situated off the reception area and service was good although a little slow even though it was not busy when we visited. Our room included access to the executive lounge where we ate breakfast which included everything you could possible want. Service was quiet and efficient. Cocktails and canapes are also offered in this lounge early evening. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Wonderful hotel and staff. Collapse
