First time staying at Crowne Plaza, so we were unfamiliar with the parking procedure. We were made so welcome by the reception staff and after advice, we soon had the car parked safely (pleased that they did not need to keep the car keys). The hotel is a little dated now and the bedroom and bathroom could do with a bit of an upgrade, but it was perfectly comfortable and very clean. Nice touch that there was a complimentary bottle of water and biscuits to go with the tea and coffee. Only one small criticism, a glass of wine is quite expensive and we were told that there was no Pinot Grigio (the cheapest on the wine list), so were surprised when we ate a little later in the Irish bar that they had the Pinot. All staff were extremely polite and friendly and we have to especially thank John in the Irish bar for his very friendly welcome and efficiency. We would definitely use the hotel again, as it is excellent value for money. The hopper bus to the airport was on schedule to and fro to T.3 and everything was very easy and relaxed. Thank you. For the price, pretty hard to beat. 15 minutes from terminal 3 in traffic, taxi costs £12. We ate in the bar and food was really good at usual London prices. Not any parking spaces on a Friday afternoon visit, but managed to grab one after waiting for a while for someone to leave. This is the reason for 4 not 5 star Collapse

We stayed one night, having arrived late in the evening. On the plus side the rooms are great, not only clean, but generous in size, well appointed, good linens and well stocked with drinks. On the downside the bar area is about as welcoming as the booking desk at a suburban police station, in addition to which the staff are, sad to say, pretty useless. Three staff trying to serve three customers at 11.30 pm, and it took 10 mins to get a drink. When i asked for a refill about 4 mins later ( I was as dry as a bone and thirsty) the same person went through the same " room number / name ritual as he had earlier, but this time SHOUTED them across the bar so that his rather slow colleague could enter them in the till at the other end of the bar. This is about as poor security as can be practiced, so everyone at the counter had my name and room number, in AN AIRPORT HOTEL - absolute muppets; also they were about as slow as snails on high dose valium at doing their job. Breakfast food wise is very good, but a) I have no clue as to who decided to put on aggressive modern jazz at 7 am and thought that was suitable at about 90 dB as sympathetic to a quiet early morning repast. Whoever they were, they got it wrong. b) The coffee was odd: a large mug of quite bitter milky warm froth. Perhaps the machine needs cleaning ? The reception staff should be mentioned as some of the most helpful, positive and upbeat in recent memory. As long as you stay in your room, good value, venture into the common areas at your own peril! Collapse

Your first impression is the hotel looks a little tired and dated but once inside you are back to the normal Crowne Plaza ‘standard’ (which is good!). The rooms are large, clean and comfortable beds & the blackout curtains ensure a good sleep whatever the time. The air con worked well which was needed due to the beautiful hot weather. Collapse
