Spent two nights at Crathorne Hall on a sightseeing visit to North Yorkshire. The Hotel is beautiful being set in a lovely rural location and with great facilities. We had dinner in their restaurant on the day we arrived and was so impressed with the food quality we booked again for the next night; and it was as good again. But the best thing about our stay at this Hotel were the staff. Everyone we met were friendly and wanted to be helpful. Will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area. Collapse

Myself and my husband have just had a wonderful nights stay at Crathorne Hall. What a truly beautiful place it is. We booked under the romantic getaway deal which was a glass of champagne on arrival with chocolates, £35 pp vouchers for dinner and breakfast in bed. We upgraded to the executive room with balcony wonderful views over the garden. I would return just for the view alone. Waking up and seeing that was stunning. Food is fabulous, ladies on reception very friendly and helpful and special thanks to the older gentleman who served us drinks in the lounge, you made us feel very welcome. I can’t wait to return. My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights for a Birthday treat. We stayed in the Ormesby room which was very spacious, beautifully furnished with a large bathroom and a four poster bed. The hotel is set in some nice gardens with a couple of woodland walks. We had an enjoyable run round the grounds. The hotel itself is decorated in keeping with the building and has an outside terrace which would be lovely in summer. We decided to eat in the hotel both nights as we were looking to relax. The hotel is near Yarm which is worth a visit. It has a nice high street with shops and a few restaurants and the river to walk by. Stokesley is a bit further but also a nice visit it has a Thai restaurant and shops. We had pre dinner drinks in the bar. On both nights the staff were attentive in bringing drinks and taking order for dinner. The restaurant is a nice cosy room and had a log fire burning. We really enjoyed the food both nights. I can highly recommend the fish options and they also had good vegetarian options. I had the chocolate fondant dessert on recommendation of one of the waitresses and it was fabulous! The staff were helpful and attentive all evening but not obtrusive. I would like to thank Sue for being especially helpful and helping to make both our evenings enjoyable. The breakfast was equally as good with an excellent cold buffet selection and a warm menu cooked to order. Again nothing was too much trouble for the staff. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing night away I would definitely recommend Crathorne. Thanks for a lovely stay we will definitely be returning. Collapse

Special offer DB&B + fizz . Hotel is old world and modern both at same time with modern facilitated bedrooms and lounge rooms that would do well as a TV set for a gentleman’s club. The restaurant was excellent with good menu choices at reasonable prices considering the top quality food and measured service. The grounds are well developed with a small forest stroll and a fifteen minute walk to the Five Houses farm shop and cafe. Customer care from check in to check out was first class. Collapse

We are regulars at Crathorne Hall and it has been our place to celebrate special occasions. Enjoyed Christmas Day lunch here many times but this year will be our last. Too many tables crammed in and not enough staff. Our table of 11 was wedged into a corner meaning that all full and empty plates had to be passed round the table like school dinners. We had pre booked our choices the week before as requested only to find that there was no record. (Very limited menu choice anyway) In the end, having booked our table for 1pm our main course was served at 3.30 which was far too late for the children, aged 2,5,6 & 8. At 5.45 we declined the coffee and mince pies as we all had our presents to open at home! We did complain and the children’s meals were removed from the bill ( hardly touched anyway) and then later offered a free meal or a partial refund. As we shan’t dine there again we accepted the partial refund but it in no way compensated for ruining what should have been a lovely, special day. Collapse
