First time staying in this hotel , I was with my husband and my 2 grandkids (18 mths and 5 yrs ) we all really enjoyed our weekend break here , lots for the kids to do , our door area was great couldn’t drag them away , fun house was great to plenty to amuse both ages , we had breakfast and dinner in house food was good ( kids ate theirs , so always a bonus ) staff very friendly and couldn’t do enough for you also very interactive with the kids ,no scowling faces at them running around the massive foyer area , kids loved the family disco DJ got them all involved no matter what age , only thing I can give a wee moan at and it really is a little one , was the size of the family room felt it was just a double with cot and extra bed squeezed in , but it didn’t dampen what was a great stay , were definitely coming back guys keep up good work xxx Collapse

Have stayed in this hotel many times over the years from 1966 when it was 5* to date….hotel in general due to its construction has not changed much, and rooms quite small by today’s standards. Within the last year the hotel was sold by its lessor to Britannia Hotels, it was formally a Hilton Brand property. Had read some not so good reviews on your site so here in my experiences Nice welcome and no apparent changes from my last stay, despite the new owners. Room was spotless and cool unlike my stay the previous night in a premier inn. Had a snack in the Woodhouse bar very nice it was too…later had dinner in main restaurant and service was super-fast and food excellent, not too much choice in the menu however. Breakfast in the am was just the same high standard and provided with good service, overall a very pleasant stay..and no drop in standards from the Hilton days. Pont to note during the school holidays the hotel is very busy with kids due to its good kid’s facilities Collapse

Myself and my boyfriend are just back from staying here for two nights. Let’s start with the positivities first: Check in was fairly straight forward, although upon arrival we found both the carpark at the front and the back off the hotel both shut off and we had to park over at the fun zone area ( fine for us but can’t imagine for elderly people or people with kids it would be as easy ) no explanation as to why it was called at check in just told “ that it is closed for a few days”. Our room was clean but felt a bit dated and can do with a serious update. Bathroom was also clean but very small and had a very tiny bath which seems a bit pointless. But over all room was clean and kind of what we expected. We didn’t eat in the hotel at dinner only breakfast and we found this absolutely fine, lots of choice of food perfect for us to start our day. The negatives : we had checked this hotels website a few days before we arrived and noticed that it had a spa which is outside of the hotel near the lodges and I was looking forward to having some treatments whilst staying here. However , we took a walk around the hotel grounds to have a look and we came across the spa which was closed until the 22nd May!! No details of the closure on the hotel or spas website and not told at reception when checking in , very poor communication from hotel staff! Hotel also has a swimming pool but we found that it was barley open at any times only for one hour in the morning then not again till later on at night ?? Why?? Pool area and changing rooms need a severe update , pool was cold and sauna didn’t work! The only saving grace for us with the hotel was it is in an absolute perfect location for doing some sight seeing as we were able to see a lot of places in the time we stayed. However , unless this hotel gets a serious upgrade soon I would not return and I definitely would not recommend to other people. Collapse

Booked by children for surprise birthday present (we are both elderly - retired). Telephoned hotel 3 days before due date to check all in order for us to arrive. Gentleman who answered phone looked booking up, confirmed the booking and also confirmed that it had already been paid in full in advance and they looked forward to seeing us on the Sunday. After approx. 100 mile drive and arriving at the hotel late afternoon and very tired, WE WERE REFUSED ACCOMMODATION ALTHOUGH FULL PAYMENT HAD BEEN TAKEN BY THE HOTEL and we produced the booking print off!!! As the booking had been made with son's debit card (which could obviously not be produced on arrival) the hotel deemed the debit card to be STOLEN?? as unable to produce it (not my card) and due to 'security reasons' we couldn't stay unless we paid again and they refunded the money they had previously taken back to the 'stolen card' which would take approx. 10 days. We dealt with two members of staff, the first young man (no manners or concern whatsoever) went through to the back and a young woman appeared, very 'stern faced', never smiled or asked if we were ok. After what seemed to be a very long conversation, she too explained that they had to treat our son's card as being stolen as we were unable to produce it (although they had taken money from it!!). Customers need to be aware that this hotel operates a NO customer care policy and look to being paid twice when they can not to mention management willing to stand and watch two elderly people carry their luggage back to the car. We refused to make a second payment which they were insisting upon and booked into a very caring hotel further into Aviemore. So glad we did. Staff and management (after hearing the story) couldn't have been more caring. Collapse

The dinner was ok but very overpriced for what it was. I would recommend going somewhere other than the hotels restaurant if its not already included in the price. Other than the dinner, its a nice location with nice staff. Collapse
