My husband and I stayed here on May 12th. I had ordered a cake to be delivered to our room as it was my husbands birthday. I was a little disappointed when we arrived as there was no cake in our room. I went to the front desk and spoke to Will. He apologized for the error and he said that he would make it right. He was wonderful and went over and above to make the evening special. The hotel is right across from the Wang- Boch theatre making it a great choice if attending the theater. The breakfast buffet was wonderful and the chef was very pleasant. Collapse

We chose this hotel because we are fans of Marriotts but the other Marriott locations in Boston were very expensive (this one is not cheap!). The location was really good - it is in the theatre district not far from Chinatown. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby and five minutes walk from stop six of the orange trolley tour, where they also have an office to buy tickets. It was ten minutes walk to Boston Common where we enjoyed a sunny hour people watching. The room we were first allocated was frankly too small - we were there three nights with three suitcases, travelling from the UK round New England. It was changed without hesitation and good grace to a longer room which could accomodate luggage. The rooms are somewhat off putting on first glance because of very dark carpets and artex ceilings. However, the room was spotless, the bed comfy and the bathroom everything we needed, with a great shower/bath. Good quality toiletries were provided in wall mounted dispensers. There were good blinds and curtains for reducing light and a coffee machine. The hotel lobby is impressive in presentation - modern, bright, airy and well designed. We enjoyed excellent cooked breakfasts on site for $15 a head and there is a well stocked bar serving a wide range of drinks with cocktails. The only downside was on the Friday night of our stay we were woken by what we assume to be a nearby club emptying out during the night. It was really loud, with accompanying sirens and we were on the 12th floor! Maybe it was a one off. Other nights we slept without any noise. The staff here are superb and went out of their way to make sure that we were looked after- from checkin to restaurant to bar to housekeeping to porters - all very good. We would recommend without hesitation. Collapse

Being in the heart of the theatre district, walking distance from the Boston Commons and State House, and close to the subway, it is a location hard to beat. The lobby is classier than what one expects from a Courtyard property -- it has an old world elegance to it, as does the bar. Service at the reception desk, the bar and the restaurant was first-rate throughout my one week stay. Breakfast is top quality, and offers a broad range of warm and cold options. An above-average Courtyard Marriott. Collapse

I really want to give this place a glowing review because the property itself is great. Beautiful building, classic design with modern updates, great central location, and the price I got was very good for a downtown location. That said... as others here have mentioned, noise is an issue. I knew from reading reviews that it might be loud due to the nightclub in the building, but figured it couldn’t be that bad because I am not a light sleeper. Also on check in I was relieved to get an 11th floor room which I figured would solve the issue... But I was wrong... We arrived on a Friday and were tired from travelling and ended up sleeping at around 9:30. I woke up around 11 and could definitely hear and feel pumping bass/vibration from the dance club below. It kept going until around 2am when I fell asleep again. Having a night club that plays loud thumping music until the early hours of the morning in the same building as a business that revolves around sleep seems like a boneheaded decision. That said, the next day (Saturday) the front desk gave me ear plugs and I didn’t hear anything at all with those in. Also my girlfriend who is a light sleeper used ear plugs on both nights and didn’t hear the noise. So in conclusion, this hotel would be great if you are there to crash at 2am after partying, or maybe if it is a weekday and the clubs aren’t bumping. If you are looking to get complete rest on a weekend, bring earplugs or try another place. If not for the noise I’d rate this place a 5 otherwise. Collapse
