I had family staying here for a few days.... apparently the rooms are clean and it is way it is when it comes to the room. You get what you pay for. However the bar!!.... so so hot!! That we couldn’t actually stay there to enjoy a few drinks as it was so hot. The second night we tried with the door outside next to us opened fully. The staff behind the bar a shocking .... inept... slow... and far from capable of doing the job. I’d avoid this place at all cost until the heating has been dealt with... (it was the same for 4 days)... and the staff have been told how to do the job and applying themselves to do it. Shocking. Collapse

Arrived, no one on reception, apart from a portly gentleman who completely ignored me and tried to look so important in the process only to discover later he was a manager! No atmosphere in the bar, the menus were on A4 stained (guess the previous food) scrapy bit of paper. The beer, well here’s a blast from the past Cafhreys - voted one of the worst beers ever, another called Bluemoon, tried a taste - yuk, good, because if I had to pay for it then I would have indeed chocked on the price of it and it was probably on drunk once in a blue moon. Real ale was off - but what a brilliant and aptly name for it if it was on, it was called DOOM BAR. So here I am wrestling with no real drinks to chose from, oh and by the way a real Brexit choice, lager from Eastern Europe. from what could have indeed got me in the mood to enjoy myself whilst awaiting arrival of friends, I was more intrigued at the obnoxious management talking down to their staff who were young and who I found quite friendly. They seemed so miserable and I only hope they were there on some kind of work experience in the hope to clearly steer them away from any kind of bar and hotel Transylvania work after what I had witnessed. No one in the bar - this hotel is like an old people’s home without the charm and wisdom of old folks. Who ever owns this place take a reality check. My friends eventually arrived and transported me to a safer place for hospitality. Shame on you who ever owns this hotel which is so near London. Collapse

Enjoyed the stay here although the hotel is dated and could do with a refurbishment.... Staff were helpful and were on hand to answer any issues. Rooms were clean and comfortable for the 1 night stay we had although quite old fashioned. We were there for golf, predominantly, and this was good and the course was quite well kept. Positives - Golf, price and breakfast was really good Constructive feedback - Evening meal was minimal and we were expecting a restaurant however we found our table in the middle of the bar area and just looked out of place. No real atmosphere and ended up playing 'frustration' board game on the bar table. Also there was not the selection of beer on offer via the draught pumps, which was disappointing Overall pretty good Collapse
Fabulous stay, thanks to all.

Was concerned by others comments on this hotel but have to say "what was expected?" How fussy are you! Ok the decor is dated and there are signs of wear and tear but this pales into insignificance as the staff were superb, the room was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. As for the food, well this was superb. Two nights of food and nothing disappointed. My husband and I had both evening meals and breakfast and were not disappointed with either. The deal we had which was all inclusive, food and some drinks, was brilliant. The grounds, golf course, were easy to walk around and the bus service is superb. What a great hotel with easy access to London by train. So much cheaper than being in London. A great stay and I fully recommend it is given a try. Don't be put off by the comments here. Collapse

I was really disappointed by this hotel. Not only was no one on reception when I arrived but there was no one in the main bar and someone was waiting to be served. When I had my evening meal the staff seemed demoralised and I heard a manager speaking down to the bar staff in a very rude and authoritative tone. No wonder they looked unhappy if they were being treated like that. The decor was outdated and the food area was where the TV was. The night that I stayed they was a big crowd of golfers who were watching sports on the TV. Anyone would have thought I'd walked into a sports bar!! Such a shame as I met a friend for dinner there and we had to go into another section of the bar which was not really equipped for dining as the tables were too low. Plus we could still hear the noise from the golfers so we weren't able to have a quiet relaxing conversation. The whole layout of the seating areas was badly set up. The tables were mismatched and some were really old and things you would see in a council dump, I'm sad to say. The furniture was mis-matched and upon closer inspection there were stains on the sofa. Some of the spot lights didn't work so it was a bit dim, although that's a much smaller point. I most definitely will not be returning to this hotel again. The management were rude to their staff, the furniture outdated and just the general atmosphere was low. Plus the music was on repeat all night which made it dull an completely uninspiring. Collapse
