The hotel is located in the middle between Causeway bay and Wanchai. Since it is far away to walk to the underground, especially in hot weather, the services of complimentary hotel shuttle buses are very useful and come well in hand. Also, the room was clean and had everything needed for a short stay. The mobile phone the hotel provides seems to be a very useful service although I did not use it this time. For tourists it is for sure a very good added value service. The breakfast was nice with good options also for Europeans. Also, service during the breakfast was very good. The reception team is very helpfull and aleays ready to assist with any requirements. I would like to thank Mr. Alan and Hugo for kind assistance and especially Mr. Bob who was extremely nice and helped me with calling taxis and even writing the destinations in Chinese for the taxi drivers. The quality of sevice and helpfulness of the reception staff is definitely a big plus for this hotel. They give their best so you feel welcomed and can trust them. I definitelly recommend this hotel for stay in HK. Collapse

We stayed at Cosmo Hotel for 2 weeks in July, so there's quite a bit I can tell you about the hotel. First of all, my 10 y.o. son and I actually stayed for 3 weeks in Hong Kong to visit relatives. We stayed in another hotel on the Kowloon side (read my other review) and then switched to the Cosmo Hotel on the Hong Kong Island side, just to switch things up. Both bookings were made through Booking.com and I scoured the site for good deals. I booked reservations that could be canceled because I wasn't sure if I would be well enough to travel due to health reasons. If I had to choose, you can save a lot more money by prepaying on the deals and that's what I should have done, had I not been ill. The Cosmo Hotel aims to please. When we checked in, we were upgraded from an executive room with a queen size bed to a king size bed. This was great for sleeping, but did make the executive room seem smaller. That being said, I was still able to do yoga in the hotel room. There wasn't a lot of extra space, but enough, and we were pretty comfortable. The only thing I did not like about the room was that the mini-bar was fully stocked, so we had very little room to put our own stuff in. The maid was very friendly and accommodating. The deal on booking.com included breakfast. At the time of booking, I thought that was going to save us money. The reality was that we only ate breakfast at the hotel 1/3 of the time. Breakfast is served until 10 am, which is an acceptable time frame, but many times we didn't get up until 9:30 am or so because of late nights (you will have many of these in Hong Kong) and we just didn't make it to breakfast or didn't feel hungry in the morning. The breakfast buffet is okay. There is variety such as fried rice (alternated with noodles of some type), sausages (alternated with a hamburger patty), eggs (some days scrambled and some days hard boiled), small amounts of dim sum like siu mai and steamed buns, potatoes (wedges or hash-brown like), veg (grilled tomatoes or steamed mixed veggies), thick slices of white bread, croissants, make your own waffle thing, some cereal, some yogurt, cut up fruit and a small variety of salad fixings, and congee (rice porridge). The quality is okay. Some of the foods seem to be store bought frozen and then heated up. However, you can also ask to have an omelette made. The best thing about the breakfast is that you can make your own expresso, cappucino or latte. Additionally, if someone walks in to have breakfast at 9:55 am, they will accommodate you and not put foods away at 10 am while you are still trying to eat. We never had to queue for breakfast like some of the reviews mentioned, but we also came AFTER racing season ended. (There is a race track almost across the street from the hotel.) There is a hotel shuttle service to quite a few places. The shuttle is picked up at the sister hotel, the Dorsett, which is next door. The shuttle to the nearest MTR (metro) station ran about every 30 minutes (except around lunchtime) until about 9:30 pm. We used the service several times going and coming back. The hotel provides a very useful booklet with neighborhood information, the MTR map, small neighborhood maps, and shuttle times.I used this booklet a lot! The preference for whether the location of the hotel is good or not depends on who you are. If you like to walk, then the location is good because it's about a 10-15 minute walk to the nearest MTR station. There is also a public swimming pool and hospital very close to the hotel. Unfortunately, as a mother of a 10 y.o. boy who complained about how much he walked (especially in the heat), the location was not as good for us, because there were times we had to walk. If you cannot time it right for the hotel shuttle, you will need to walk. To head towards the nearest laundry service, grocery store or cheap restaurant, you will need to cross the subterranean passage which involves going down stairs and then up some stairs (or go around the long way and avoid the passage altogether). If you have bad knees, this can be challenging. There are lifts being built for the stairs, so in the future, it will be more accommodating. I also noticed there were a couple of streets without traffic lights that we had to cross in order to get to the stores. If you have young children, it might be a bit tricky as you will have to look to see if a car is turning from behind you while you are trying to monitor the other lane. As I mentioned, the hotel aims to please. We received a phone call from one of the managers to see how our stay was going after about a week since we were staying there for 2 weeks. I mentioned that some of the neighboring rooms were a bit noisy and the the manager told me to let them know, as they would send security up. There are noisy families who stay at this hotel and you will hear them the most in the hallways as they are getting ready to take the lift or returning to their rooms. The best thing about the hotel was the free use of the 4G cell phone. The phone itself is not very user friendly as there are a ton of ads that keep popping up, BUT you can use the phone's hotspot and carry it with you around Hong Kong, using your own cell phone. I was able to use my iphone everywhere in Hong Kong! You will also want to tether other electronic devices to it while at the hotel because the hotel only allows free wifi for one device. Initially, we thought this was going to be a problem for us, but I after I tethered my son's ipod to the 4G phone, as well as my own phone, and used the hotel wifi for the ipad, everyone was happy. Would I stay here again? I am not sure. There are several pros about the hotel--good customer service, shuttle service, and the 4G phone, fairly close proximity to stores and restaurants, but I also have several relatives who are getting older and it was difficult for them to get to the hotel to visit me....maybe after the lift for the stairs to the subway passage is built. We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights onroute to Australia. We found the hotel to be comfortable, we had a room quite high up in the hotel which gave us lovely views from the window - there was a guest area on a lower floor with tea & coffee as well as an outside seating area that you could use if you chose. We did not use the bar or eat at the hotel so I am unable to comment on these, however they did look nice when we passed by, We found the hotel to be in a nice neighborhood close to Wan Chai tube station, buses and local amenities for food and shops. We found it easy to get around once we got one of the MTR passes. We used Trip Advisor to find cheap/ local eats as we like to eat like locals when on Holiday - which took us to a restaurant called Little Bao - it was brilliant, we could have eaten there again but only found it on our last evening. I would highly recommend going to the giant Buddha & to Victoria Peak ( the queue for this was about 2 hours so I would recommend getting there much earlier than you want to be up there - and take a jacket as it gets really cold at the top Collapse
