A compact City with a proud if painful history. To suffer under Nazism and then be 'freed' only to suffer under Communism for many people's whole lifetime is quite something to put it mildly. Maybe because of that, the Prague people are friendly, welcoming, generous and warm. The buildings and their history are wonderful., and it is all pretty compact with a great transport system. Wonderful trip. Collapse

Corinthia Towers is a very pleasant hotel but we were disappointed to find that a 5-star hotel did not have any cash machines or facilities to change money. We had to go to the nearby metro station and were not warned about the danger of pickpockets. Within 5 minutes of getting money out we had everything stolen on the Metro - cash, credit cards, driving licences and the lot. The hotel sold us the Metro ticket and really should have warned us to be vigilant. I told the Concierge this so that all future visitors can be warned. Collapse

The Corinthia is a large (25 floors) purpose built hotel, I’m guessing from the 60’s or 70’s era next to the Congress centre and close to Prague Central Rail station. I’m sure that it wasn’t originally Corinthia but now it is branded as such. The reception is usually very busy so be prepared for a wait but there are adequate number of hi-speed lifts so no waiting for them even at peak times. When booking I was attracted by the low room rate of around €80/night (incl. breakfast) which seemed low for a Corinthia hotel. However, I didn’t realise that at that rate the spa/fitness centre would be charged extra (approx. €10/person/day). The reception and lounge bar appear to have been quite recently refurbished but the room, although in good condition was just a little dated. Insufficient power sockets is characteristic of that but tea and coffee making facilities were provided together with a well stocked but pricey mini bar. I was surprised that there was only a trouser press, no iron. One of the windows in the room did open! The breakfast was very good indeed and there are two al la carte restaurants located on the first floor. I only used the ‘Grill’ restaurant which was bright and cheery but, by Czech standards, Pizzas were very expensive at €16.00 each. There’s a cash machine in the lobby although it didn’t want to accept my cards. TIP: I stayed about one hour past my check out time and was not hassled about it. Collapse

Booked via secret escapes we were pleased with the choice. The hotel is a hop to the train station and it is so easy to get around the town from The hotel itself is good. The breakfast is excellent with a large choice. The executive lounge however is not the best. A few nuts and a small selection of beer and wine for one hour a night. We got the lounge for free I would not have been happy if we had paid for it. All in all though a great hotel. Collapse

This is an excellent hotel opposite the Prague Congress Centre. If you are coming for a meeting there, this is the best place to stay. My room was large and had everything I would want from a hotel room. It was quiet and the quality of the bed was very good to give you a good night's sleep. Breakfast is plentiful with great choice. One outstanding feature is how close it is to the Metro - 1 minute walk from the front door. It is simple to use with instructions in English and Czech. There is a ticket kiosk at the opposite platform. There are actually ticket machines on both platforms but they only take coins which as an arriving tourist you are unlikely to have (unless you ask the hotel reception for change). It takes about 5 minutes on the Metro to be in the city centre. The metro is superb, clean, frequent, comfortable and on time. Monitors show how long it is until the next train which on weekdays is every 4 minutes or so. I would not hesitate to stay in this hotel even if I was not coming for a conference since getting to the city centre is so simple. Collapse
