We stayed here with two other families as a base for exploring the Rhine river and couldn’t have been happier. It was a short walk from the train station and was the perfect location next to restaurants, the cathedral, and all the action. Mr. Gando, in the hotel’s Destination Travel Services/Concierge, was extremely helpful, professional, and courteous as he guided us through our itinerary, helping us procure our train tickets, and assisting us with the logistics of our Rhine river tour. He considered the needs of our group and thanks to his advice, our plan for the day unfolded better than we anticipated. His recommendations for St. Goar and Boppard were amazing choices and we were thrilled and so grateful for his help. Thanks to Mr. Gando, we will definitely consider Marriott first for our future trips! Collapse

We where three nights in this hotel. Two adults and two kids (7 and 14). Our room was some kind of junior suite or that kind. Room was big and wery clean. We liked our stay wery much. Location was ok, close to railway station. Breakfast in that hotel is really expensive so we didn't took it at all. There is a bakery really close to hotel and in railway station there is also a lot of places where you can buy your breakfast or lunch with really cheap prices. There was a lot of trainees working at the hotel reception so service was a little bit slow and "shaky", but thats ok because everybody have to be trainee before you can be a professional. Unfotunatelly the basic complimentary words seemed to be missing... Collapse

The outside of this hotel is not so impressive, but was presently surprised once inside. Room 330 - Suite - very large, very comfortable and clean - great bedding and wonderful pillows - everything looked well maintained and great amenities. Executive lounge - 6th Floor - available to those that book suites. Great lounge and staff extremely friendly and pleasant with great variety of food and drinks throughout the day. Reception - had requested an early check-in due to early flight arrival from Australia. Of course they couldn't guarantee it and as suspected i was unable to check-in till 3pm. I find it very difficult to believe that all rooms were sold out, but hotels unfortunately like to keep to rules and it was pointless arguing the point. Also at certain times of the day - especially around 3pm at official check-in time the reception is a mad house with queues and people everywhere making it very frustrating entering and leaving the hotel. Sometimes the queue was nearly out the front door. Cobble stones around the entrance also very annoying with moving suitcases and the main entrance to hotel was far to small and congested at times. Waiting for lifts could be a little boring at times and for the size of the hotel you would think they would have far more. Full American breakfast was served on the ground floor or you could go to the Executive Lounge for a Continental Breakfast. Breakfast was well organised, great staff and an amazing variety on offer. Servicing of the room was good, however, like a lot of hotels i've stayed in they always forget to top up tea bags, sugar and coffee etc. Having stated all this i would highly recommend this hotel and i most definitely would stay here again without hesitation. This hotel represents amazing value for money combined with great location and very friendly staff. Collapse

Requested check-in early but was not available, was ready at around 4:30pm. As a gold member, was able to use the lounge while room was being cleaned. Luggage was taken and delivered to the room shortly thereafter. Welcome fruit, drink, chocolates and a small glass of wine was provided, and very nice. Room was spacious and clean. Executive lounge had a good variety of food - breakfast and dinner was excellent. Drinks available during the other times of the day. Got quite busy at times at the lounge, but staff kept everything going and service was good. Location of hotel is excellent, about 5 minute walk from Cologne HBF and the cathedral very nearby as well. Easily walkable around many streets around Cologne from the hotel, and in a nice quiet area. This was a points redemption with Marriott. Would definitely be back. Collapse
