The Coldra Court Hotel was recently a Hilton Hotel, now part of the Celtic Manor Hotel. The facilities were very good. The rooms and bathrooms were comfortable and adequate but perhaps need some updating over time. The Seasons Restaurant was very good with a varied choice on the menu. All the staff in the hotel were very helpful and friendly. There was a courtesy minibus up to the Celtic Manor Hotel. We would definitely recommend the Coldra Court Hotel as it was very good value for a weekend break. Collapse

Ok. I'm never going to be a typical guest at this massive, majestic hotel. Was only here because my husband and myself had vouchers for Christmas. The Welsh scenery was amazing. Breathtakingly beautiful panoramic views. Hotel well deserving it's many stars. Staff were fabulous. And here comes the BUT ... The food in the nigh time was incredibly disappointing. Dried out buffet selection. At one time 12 tables needed clearing around us. Just disorganised sadly. Breakfast however was amazing! Definitely picked the wrong time to go on a quiet break with my husband without our children, sadly it was half term in England so the hotel was packed to the brim. No adults only time in the pool, even though it's advertised. Couldn't get to swim as so many people, quite rightfully for them, were having a fabulous time. Couldn't be in our room til 4pm and had to be out by 11. Room service knocking at the door just after 10 to see if they could clean the room. Thought we could retire to the library, sit in front of a lovely open fire and chat. Sadly again got full of families, had no soft drinks we liked, ie diet coke etc, apparently run out?? Really .. don't think so!! Hotel is using the very large ice cubes which takes all the fizz out of your gin and tonics or soft drinks. Massive cobwebs hangs from the light in library also. May all sound a bit picky, perhaps it is BUT for the prices they charge we left terribly disappointed sadly Collapse

Having been to Celtic Manor previously for afternoon tea with friends and having a wonderful time with delicious food, I decided to return taking my daughters and a friend for a treat after a difficult start to the new year. One if my daughters is a Celica and requires a gluten free menu. I informed the Olive Tree of this when I booked the treat. However when the food arrived she had less savoury options and fewer items. When the sweet stuff arrived, there were no scones for her. All she had was a shop bought brownie that was very dry and hard, avery small pot of raspberries with the equivalent of tinbed custard and some honeycomb on the top and some pieces of Turkish delight on a skewer. Those of us not requiring a gluten free diet had one plain and one fruit scone each, plus a selection of other little cakes and tarts. I was sure that such a massive resort catering for so many people would be able, especially with prior notice, to provide a better selection. How is it afternoon tea without any scones? That is pretty basic. I have been to much smaller places that have had no problem in providing gluten free scones. On the plus side the staff were friendly and helpful. But this special treat turned out to be not so special. Collapse

Would just like to say thank you to both a fantastic resort with so much to do and of course the wonderful staff who literally couldn’t do enough for us. Our first time at the resort and we truly cannot fault it. Between the arrival - we were offered an upgrade to the signature rooms for a small charge which was well worth it when we arrived to prosecco on arrival, wine and chocolate in the room and a fabulous view over a balcony. We had a delicious meal and wonderful service in Newbridge on Usk and a fantastic breakfast with so much choice the following day! Beautiful break away - gorgeous swimming area, jacuzzi and sauna! I would definitely recommend and I will definitely be visiting again. Thank you very much! Collapse

Booked 2 for a birthday weekend for the whole family. Absolutely superb accommodation and a wonderful winter retreat. All hotel facilities available if required, and a well oiled machine supporting the visit, but once settled in these lodges make for a great break just on their own. Open fire (take some wood with you) and a hot tub/sauna helps make it feel special. Collapse

Arrived here after a long drive and entered the drive way. Sign posting for the parking areas was good. I parked outside and at the bottom in what looked like a building site. I then had to negotiate finding my way in past a nursery upstairs to a conference area, then fights of escalators and finally to reception. A real pain. A young mother was struggling the last section after the escalators with the remaining stairs. At reception, the staff were courteous and helpful, check in was easy and then it was the trudge to the room. Exiting the lift there is a large atrium which does give good views across the park Land and reception area. The room was quite large with a large well equipped bathroom. WIFI was easy to access, a large TV was nice and quite a few sockets, though could not find any by the bed!! The room was quite dark in decor and was a bit tired, bar this it was ok. The place has a few bars and eating areas, A large pool can be seen when exiting via the escalators Evening food was ok, have had worse and have had better, I can’t comment on breakfast as left before this begun. I have to say it wasn’t for me, the room décor was to dark, the bars too large and all in all it was very impersonal and the commute to and from the car park way too far. It’s only a personal opinion but its like a huge conference building not a hotel, reminded me of Stuttgart’s massive conference venue. Collapse
