1st hotel we’ve been to UK. Less than satisfactory. 1. Breakfast was same old english breakfast. No variety. Servers tend to get bore-some as we spent 7 nights. They are friendly though but offers no genuine conversation except whether you want coffee or hot chocolate. 2. No slippers, toothbrush, staff to assist upon arrival. 3. The most passive, insincere staff at the reception. Never wanted to strike a real conversation. Not happy with their job. One head shaved staff asked the stupidest question if we are checking in where in fact it was our 8th day and we are indeed checking out. It goes to show that they don’t know nor care about their guests. 4. Staff don’t care to welcome you once arrived nor bid you a good farewell once leaving after staying for more than a week. One lady staff was more eager to kick us out after a few minutes after the check out time as they had to clean our room. It was centrally located as right next to paddington station. However, I’m sure there are a far better hotels within the same the same location at Norfolk square. Collapse
Freindly Staff - Good location

A great small size hotel in a nice location in Norfolk Plaza. Rooms are a bit old with carpets, however, it's a 3* budget hotel. Breakfast is average but location and staff friendliness gives it some points!

I had an overnight in London before a flight to America the next day at London Heathrow. Ever - ambitious, I made some plans to dine with family friends that evening and needed to be able to get to Kings Cross easily, and of course back to LHR the next day. I chose this hotel for proximity to Paddington Station (both the Tube a d Heathrow express), and really just wanted a clean room, shower, and a bit of breakfast the next morning. The room was pretty basic, but it was clean and quiet. I did hear a neighbor cough a bit, which makes me wonder if being there on. Friday or Saturday night (opposed to Sunday) would have been less peaceful. The hotel is located on a square that faces a common area, and can be easy to overlook if not paying attention. As I mentioned before, the room was pretty basic, but what I appreciated most was the extreme friendliness and courtesy of the staff--both at check in and at breakfast. I got my rest and the price was definitely right. I would stay again under when the need arises. Collapse

This is hands down the absolute WORST hotel I have ever stayed in, & I travel the world for work. This is going to be long, & for good reason. Nobody would believe all of this happened in one room in one hotel. I could only upload 10 pics. My friend & I did not expect a 5 star hotel for the price we paid, & I've stayed in less expensive hotels in London that were better than this!! We arrived early, & were fully aware of the 2pm check-in. We asked if by chance our rooms were ready, & we were willing to pay extra should that be necessary. It was my birthday weekend & we had plans to go to Stonehenge. The gentleman at the front desk had housekeeping check, & the previous guests had indeed left. We were advised to return at 12pm to give housekeeping time to clean. Perfect! We came back at 12:30 & a different man was at the desk. I am pretty sure he is the owner. We explained our situation & that we were offered our rooms early at 12pm. He argued and yelled at us that "EVERYONE knows check-in is 2pm!" We just wanted to change clothes that we'd been in for the past 18 hours. He allowed us into the room at around 1pm. THIS is where things got (literally) ugly!!! And yes, I have the pictures to prove it. It's really 2 buildings that make the one hotel. (2 sets of elevators, etc.) Upon exiting the elevator on my floor, the maid's stuff was blocking the exit. So much so I couldn't lift my suitcase over her clutter. The rooms were old, & I was expecting that, so not a big deal. The light outside the room was burned out, & I had to use my phone to see where to place the key. The walls hadn't been painted in years. Dings & dents & scratches & marks were along every wall. The door didn't have a peep hole, and it was missing the chain part of the lock. The emergency instructions are placed on the door, but the number to call in case of an emergency was blank. That however didn't matter, because the phone didn't work. I couldn't even call the front desk or my friend's room. The shower was moldy, & the shower door was broken. There wasn't a place to hang the towel once used. The vanity light above the sink didn't work. I had no intention of watching TV, but was shocked it was about 12"! The bedside lampshade was broken & stained on one side, cracked on another side, but neither mattered because THERE WASNT A LIGHTBULB!!! The veneer was cracking off of the bedside table. There was trash on the floor next to the bed. The air vents are clogged with dust. The blackout drapes they advertise are too small for the windows & therefore do not close completely. They also had paint on them. The beds are hard & you can feel the springs. They've seen better days. The blanket was stained & I'm not sure from what. They give you an old school key, which is fine, except the key ring not only has the name of the hotel, the address, the phone number, but on the back IS YOUR ROOM NUMBER!! Wouldn't it be great if you accidentally dropped the key ring, only to return to the hotel to see everything you brought stolen. The free wifi the advertise was so terrible. The fastest I had was 0.85Mbps. They'd mopped the floor near the lobby without placing a sign & I didn't realize it was wet. I nearly slipped. The icing on the cake was there is CONSTRUCTION right next door. Like, on the other side of the wall. At 6:00am! On a Saturday!!!! The next morning (my birthday), I spoke to the owner & showed him pictures of the room. I wanted to give him another opportunity to make good on his hotel's promise of a good stay. I was offered ONE other available room that was in the same building against the SAME WALL next to the construction! I left my friend & this crappy hotel in tears & went to another hotel. I advised the front desk owner that I would be doing this. I've NEVER had such a bad experience at a hotel that I actually had to walk. NEVER! The location may be nice, but PLEASE look at other hotels close by in the same price range. DO NOT STAY AT CHRYSOS, because it'll be a crisis. Collapse

Every day, a kind word and great advice about where to go, how to get there and great restaurants! Breakfast: yummy! And definitely enough to eat! This is a great place to stay because of all of the above as well as the central location! You’re near Paddington station, so you are able to travel from here to there in no time! Collapse
