To be honest from the moment we arrived it was bad, the booking agent had not notified the hotel of our booking therefore we were arrived and given a standard room. We were really upset as it was not with a view to see the animals as our daughter was promised. Then it just got worse we couldn't book a restaurant to eat therefore the hotel after some hours gave us an option to order food and we could pick it up. By half 8 at night our daughter was beside herself as she was hungry and overtired. We finally got dinner and fell into bed exhausted from trying to book in and get something to eat. To be fair this may not have been such an ordeal had the booking have been made properly by the booking company. It was expensive stay for what it was! I would not do it again and would choose to stay outside of the resort in future. Collapse

We had booked to stay in a Safari room next door however we were offered a free upgrade on arrival as it was my husbands birthday. The car park to the hotel is not in theme park car park, glad we checked beforehand ! We kept our reservations next door- glad we did as the restaurant there seems less chaotic. We had the swimming included in our room but never got the chance to use it as we were in the park. The room was a good size with bunkbeds in a separate room for our son. The safe code was funny and we never did get it... we phoned reception in the end ! Our room over looked the safari area of the park.. it was a beautiful view..couldn't of asked for better. The room itself was clean and modern with everything you need. We had a good nights sleep. The evening access to the zoo area of the park is a definite advantage to staying on site, we loved this. Early access into the park is also a massive benefit. We also booked while there was 2 for 1 on park days. We did prefer being in the safari hotel next door as it was bigger and had alot more going on. We enjoyed the evening entertainment there as well. The bar staff do let down both hotels, they are in need of more training ! Overall we enjoyed our stay..we would stay again in the Azteca hotel but only if we had the same view.. we would also go for breakfast and dinner next door in the safari hotel. Collapse

This was our first time to Chessington and we had a great time. The children loved the Monkey Temple room and particularly enjoyed the treasure hunt for some pop badges to add to their collection. I had to get the answer from another review (5444) however and I'm still not convinced there were so many shovels in the room! The swimming pool was bigger than I expected given previous reviews, it is fairly standard hotel size and the children loved it though why I had to get in with my 2 competition swimmer children aged 9 & 10 when I can barely swim I'm not sure!! The pool was clean but the individual changing rooms filthy despite the signed cleaning report. Make sure you follow the link on the confirmation email and book early if you want a slot and bring shampoo as none is provided. We ate twice in the safari restaurant and found the restaurant cold, the children had to return to the room for jumpers the first night and the second I wore my coat! The food was average although I am shocked that the children's meals include a carbohydrate (chips, mash etc) OR vegetables! I can't imagine many children choosing vegetables over chips. When we asked we were offered veg for an extra 50p but this is not on the menu. We ate again in this restaurant the second night as we didn't enjoy the buffet in Alton Towers hotel and the lighting is poor (It's trying to be the rainforest cafe but failing!) My husband ordered the £13 main course watermelon and feta salad which is also available as a starter. When it arrived it was a bowl of watermelon and feta with a sprinkling of watercress. He complained as this was not a salad and the chef added a few pieces of iceberg lettuce (see photo). Again, this did not constitute either a main meal or a salad so the chef came over and eventually a watermelon and feta salad was produced rather than a what should have been described as 'watermelon and feta'. Overall we found the staff friendly and helpful (I have sent a Merlin star to Oliver and Edward), particularly in the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed our trip despite awful weather. Collapse

The hotel in itself was ok, what you would expect for a theme park hotel. The room was very clean and well stocked although bigger bath towels would be appreciated! The food however was a major let down, hence the 2 star review. Dinner at the Temple was a buffet, limited choice, curries and roast meats. If you like a curry you will be very disappointed, no taste at all! I avoided the overcooked meats. Dinner at Zufari wasn't much better, I ordered the lamb and it was so tough I could hardly cut into it! Breakfast was marginally better. However, please don't put tinned fruit in the fruit section it tastes awful and it really isn't a major ask for your 'chefs' to cut fresh fruit up every morning....that is after all what they are being paid for! Me my boy and sister with her little girl went here for a 1 night stay visiting the theme park on the second day..... the hotel really was great, the evening entertainment was ok, not on par with other merlin hotels but it passed an hour. The food was of reasonable standard a little overpriced we went to the a la carter restaurant there is two, the other way what you can.... Breakfast again was good, what they didn't advertise is that if you want any other egg than scrambled as a member of staff and they will do it. The hotel staff well............ I don't think it's there fault they are young and not very well trained I think..... we wanted to plan our day when we got there so I asked for a park map, I was sent to three different places then to be told sorry we can not get any ???? Then I asked where the evening entertainment was I was again passed to different staff and no one new where it was, even tho it told you the room name on the booking in instructions. Don't let this review put you off, just considerations when booking, because all in all my boy loved it and that is the reason we went Collapse
