To be honest from the moment we arrived it was bad, the booking agent had not notified the hotel of our booking therefore we were arrived and given a standard room. We were really upset as it was not with a view to see the animals as our daughter was promised. Then it just got worse we couldn't book a restaurant to eat therefore the hotel after some hours gave us an option to order food and we could pick it up. By half 8 at night our daughter was beside herself as she was hungry and overtired. We finally got dinner and fell into bed exhausted from trying to book in and get something to eat. To be fair this may not have been such an ordeal had the booking have been made properly by the booking company. It was expensive stay for what it was! I would not do it again and would choose to stay outside of the resort in future. Collapse

Stayed here over half term. The hotel is well themed and our temple room was really nice but the hotel has procedures in place which is weird for any hotel. You arrive and suddenly your told you need to book a breakfast reservation. We were lucky and got a good time but many people were unhappy because they only had very early or late slots left. If you didn't have a themed room and booked your swimming time before you arrived you probably won't be able to use the pool because there are not many slots available. Especially when busy. Other than that parts of the hotel were understaffed. Only one bar man on a busy bar. A few tweaks and they could make it better. Tips Book everything as early as you can Having a savanna room will not guarentee you seeing any animals. The giraffes were AWOL. We did see a duck though Collapse

WE ate here 2 years ago and the experience was horrible but this is the only real place in chessington world of adventure I've ever found that I can have a quiet drink. That quiet drink tho is £2 for a glass of milk and can only be gained when the restaurant is open. I came here to eat lunch 2 years ago and there is no signage anywhere except on the side of the Host or hostess booth about the 'Aztec restaurant contains a flashing light show.' this sign cannot be seen if there are people in front of it when busy as you walk pass it to enter the restaurant. I was promised that it would be moved to a more prominent position. It's been 2 years!!!! cant say much about food as the restaurant is currently closed. Collapse

We have visited Chessington Azteca before in the summer holidays last year, then I would of given them a 5 rating. But our visit this time was rather disappointing.... check in was supposed to be 3pm however our key wasn’t ready then and after queuing several times and getting rather annoyed with the lad who kept disappearing with the key box, we asked to see a manager but suddenly our key arrived at 3.20pm before we could see him. It seemed to me the hotel wasn’t running to full capacity even though the hotel seemed quite busy and full. The temple restaurant evening meal had good food for the kids, however some of the cake desserts were quite stale as they were rock hard. Breakfast was average, they had empty boxes of specialty teas. Such a shame as last year I remembered breakfast being really nice with a great selection of teas and pastries. Our room was decorated really good and the kids enjoyed finding their treasure and their TV in the room. We had a wayama view room which for this time of year wasn’t really worth it as there wasn’t hardly any animals to see. Can see why the price for half term was a lot cheaper than other school holidays, Collapse

Room pros- monkey temple theme, kids loved it and it was fully themed. If you don't pay for a view you still get a theme park view on the other side of the hotel. In the safari hotel you would get a nice view of the car park! So better in the Azteca. Restaurant is fantastic, leafcutter ants make their way past your table in a tube which runs all around the room. Plus piranhas in a tank was a hit with our kids. The breakfast was extensive. They offered everything you could imagine. The berry smoothie was lovely. The safari hotel reception, entertainment room and zafari? restaurant are lovely spaces to be with lots to wow the kids and a view over the giraffe and zebra paddock. Cons- The giraffes and zebras never came out/weren't let out. The weather was nice on the first day, miserable on the second day. I would have thought they might have had a wander on the sunnier day. They can't make them though! Just a little disappointing, but I'm glad we hadn't paid for a room with an animal view. There was never anything more than a duck and a disguarded traffic cone out there. You can't go to the inside areas of the giraffes unless you pay £15 each so we just didn't get to see them. That was the one thing I'd most been looking to. The safe didn't work so the kids completed the quiz in the room to find the safe combination and then it wouldn't open (someone did come within an hour to sort it out) No cold water from the tap in the bath, but we just used the shower head. Queues to check in were quite long. There was spare reception points which could have been opened up. They had a man 'supervising' the queue to make sure everyone was in the right place which was good. The Azteca is linked inside to the Safari hotel. It's basically just an extension. The main reception area serves both hotels, but they both have their own restaurants. All in all we'd go back, the hotel itself is lovely, the food was good and the kids loved it. Collapse

This is a really nice hotel, and staying here definitely added value to our trip to the park. However, it’s let down by poor organisation and lacks a decent restaurant on site. I’ll start with the good; fantastic themed rooms, great communal areas and lots of fun to be had, nice pool and good parking. We especially loved the lifts in the Safari hotel. Beds were comfy, the air con worked like a dream, the shower was nice. The kids enjoyed the slide in the Splash Pool and the entertainment was a bonus. There was a prize hidden in the safe and friendly porters and restaurant staff. Breakfast was okay. The not so good? Clueless reception staff (told they didn’t have a map of the park, didn’t know where the gate was etc), total confusion even two days before arriving about whether or not the buffet restaurant would even be open on the night of our visit (it’s half term, sort it out) Amazu and Wayama village shut despite this being a selling point of staying in the hotel. Half the swimming pool was shut for Waterbabies lessons when the place was packed out with guests. The restaurants were impressive to look at, but the vegetarian choice for dinner was miserable, reception can’t book you a table (you have to queue at sticky touch screens) and other guests were complaining that the buffet food was dried up and nasty so we ate at the Shy Horse (5 mins drive away) which was fantastic or there is a beefeater within easy reach. I’d say stay here and eat elsewhere. Overall, it’s a good hotel but with limitations. Collapse
