After checking in got to room and just from curtains realised i had been to hotel some 5 or 6 years ago and saw room and we walked out,it was so bad. This time found they have redone the down stairs and clean modern.only let down was lift to 1st floor so small do not think you would get wheel chair in and if you did would not be able to open close door in one.the small piece of carpet in this lift was so stained and dirty did not want to walk in in my out door shoes, even worse in my white slippers to go for swim.Crip rods never been cleaned, but a small piece of carpet glued down sprayed with scotgaured cost £3 to £5.at most, would make good impression.Room clean but let down by faded shabby carpet from must be 1950'or 60'and those same dated curtains, must have a carpetright shop in Blackpool you can get room sizes carpets for £80 again scotgaurd walk area's and last for years, need good underlay, black out curtains in nice shades, not a lot to made room number 4 better, also get rid of 50'dressing table, put wall counter full width of wall then could take small thin shelve down for making tea on which is dangerous and put plug chargers a long for all 3 people in family room to charge phones etc.no one expect axminster carpet in hotel rooms just clean and free from stains, food was 5 star, staff lovely and friendly nothing too much trouble. And found by going that you can go in for lunch or afternoon tea if not staying in hotel, which I will do next time,as go a lot to St Anns.Pool was lovely though a bit warm should be 29 degrees but felt like over 30 and that not healthy. Also smell of emulsion paint so need window in roof to give some air so smells can get out.needs staff to be seen often in pool area as steps up and down to pool wet and need wiping often, but nice pool for a hotel, been in worse 5 star hotels in London.Just needs some TLC in hallways and room we were in heated towel rail in bathroom loose also metal head board, which was hard to lean against if watching tv.need padded on on wall or bed with slip covers on that can be washed when stained, some one local could make them.Lovely large tv on wall but keep loosing signal as wire loose had to keep getting out of bed to move it up and down.lovely sea view.Pillows not good I had one too hard like rock and one I thought soft till lay down and found it was lumpy my daughter said hers were the same,I did not look at mattress or pillows as clean bedding on so don't want to know if these were stains just hope not.they did have protectors on which is the best thing a hotel can do. My husband and I recently stayed in this well known establishment and may I say I feel slightly guilty only giving it 3 stars. We had a large sea view room which was spacious if a little dated. The dinner and breakfast was good but he whole place is living on past glories.Faded and not very clean carpets along with bathroom floor stains have dragged my review down albeit we paid under 60 pounds for dinner bed and breakfast.I think with the right investment it could get back to how it was but this is needed sooner rather than later.Go if you are on a budget but avoid till upgrade is done. My 3 girlfriends, we're 47, came up from our hometown of Sunny Southport, I live in St Annes, for a hen night for me in April. They'd booked us a family room. The room was a little dated, nevertheless it was spotlessly clean with excellent facilities. Check in was easy. We were in room 40 on the second mezzanine. It was fantabulously quirky going up the umpteen sets of stairs. We then discovered the lift!!! How fab? It's a good job we're mates!!! We didn't dine in the hotel and the reason being that the website didn't detail the restaurant facilities so we had no prior knowledge of what to expect, therefore we had a meal in St Annes. It was Grand National day when we were there, the weather was glorious and the hotel was busy, lively and bustling. When we returned in the evening, we headed straight for the jacuzzi and pool. We were a little worse for wear but we were quiet and only sat in the jacuzzi. I feel I must apologise to the diners in the restaurant as we could not be bothered getting dried and changed after our dip so 4 x late 40 something wenches tip-toed from the pool, past the restaurant, up in the lift back to our room!!!!! Breakfast was room service the next morning, on the dot and piping hot. Fabulous. Parking was free. The hotel was superb. We shall certainly use you again and recommend you to others that come and visit. Thank you so much for a most enjoyable stay. Collapse
