Nearly everywhere we wanted to go was one mile or less from the hotel. We had to Lyft a few times and found there is a handy pull-in right at the front door. A literal 2 minute walk will get you to 4 different bodega/deli/convenience stores. Farther up 9th street is a wealth of restaurants. The hotel is clean, staff are friendly and it is great to have a kitchenette in the room. Some of the rooms have great views. Ours, on the 31st floor, looked out at the Empire State Building and we watched the lights change there all evening. There was one big deal problem for us. Everywhere you go there are signs stating that the hotel is smoke free but twice we had problems with smoke. The evening we got in, cigarette smoke was coming through the bathroom vent in significant amounts. By the time they agreed we needed a new room, the place was full. So we were stuck with it overnight. The next morning they were great about getting us another room with the nicer view. The second smoking issue was when we returned to our room one afternoon. We got off the elevator on our floor and the small hallway just reeked of pot. It was all cleared up by the time we returned at the end of the day. We still think well of this place and will stay there again but they need to get on top of the smoking issue. Collapse

Can't stand tiny rooms so went for a Queen Suite, near the centre of the city, with some catering facilities. Wow, surprised, large room, table, chairs, hob, dishwasher , fridge freezer, all cutlery and pans.Spotless it was on arrival, everything worked! Staff friendly, a 711market two blocks up, coffee bars and delis all over the place, and a 200m walk to the metro. 10% discount for the pub a few doors away, and that was good food, nearly forgot, they have a take-in service, order by text and they deliver to your door, great menu so don't worry about having no restaurant at the hotel. Friendly staff. Wifi stunning speed for data upload....Can recommend it.. Collapse

I really do. The positives of this room include decent wifi, location close to Times Square/Port Authority/Penn Station, and size of room (considering it's NYC). The hotel only has six rooms per floor, which cuts down on noise (another tip for that is keeping your fan on). There's an oven, decent size-ed fridge, dishwasher, sink, and microwave . Also has every utensil and cookware you may need. Housekeeping only comes once during your visit. Towels aren't the biggest or softest. There's a sundry shop located in lobby with a lot of snacks and drinks to charge to your room. Newspaper is free. Front desk staff is capable and friendly enough for NYC. The biggest downfalls are the constant smell of smoke. I've stayed here three times and have been bombarded with the smell of weed and, currently, cigarettes. The cigarette smell seems to be more prevalent. Last time I was here I bought an scented thingy to try to rid the room of the smell. This time I'm suffering. Not a big fan of IHG points system as they don't reward you for staying when your client is paying. Biggest issue is that the hotel is used by HUD for Section 8 housing (floor 1-8, I'm told).T Collapse

If you're looking for somewhere a bit more like home when you are visiting NYC then this is the place to stay. Having stayed in many hotels over NYC we decided on staying here considering we were staying for a week this time. The hotel is in a great location. A 1 minute walk from Port Authority Bus Station and less than 5 minutes to get into the heart of Times Square. Plenty access to subway stations nearby for when travelling across the city. The room itself was very spacious for the 2 of us. We had everything you could possibly want for a week away. Fridge, freezer, microwave, cooker, tv, safety deposit box, hairdryer etc. Plenty room in the fridge and freezer for keeping food and drinks in. We requested a high room but were told rooms are only allocated on arrival. However, we struck it lucky and got a room with a great view on floor 24. We could see the Empire State and on a clear day we also got a view of One World Trade too. The hotel also had a room downstairs that stocked every kind of snacks and juices you could want. There was also a large cabinet in the lobby containing games and DVDs that you could borrow. We never used either of these but great ideas for nights in. Would definitely stay here again when visiting NYC. Collapse
