Me & my mum stayed here for 2 nights over the bank holiday weekend. First of all I will list the plus points to the hotel. - Nice hotel, in a great central area to Dumfries town centre. - Friendly front of house staff & reception - Clean pool. Points that I feel need worked on - The restaurant. The buffet style at breakfast just doesn't work. The food trays were all lying empty for a good 10mins before they were replenished. Some of the waiting staff seemed very laid back, only one woman appeared to be rushing around trying to re-fill food trays and stock up fresh juice as it all run dry. Then It was a mad scramble of guests when the trays did get stocked up, people rushing to get a fried egg! Very poor. - Also the choice of food on menu is limited and pricey imo. I'm almost 5 months pregnant at the moment & I'm not allowed to eat pate. The only 2 starters offered to me one evening was pate and mushroom soup and I don't eat mushrooms. I asked the waitress if I could substitute the pate for a starter from the main menu at same value which became a huge issue so it resulted in me not having anything. At end of the meal I believe the chap's name was Hassan I think he was a general manager in the hotel did take off our supplement charge from the bill and apologised for the inconvenience however which I felt was good customer service. - The lift. When we arrived it had broke down and was out of service for an entire day. It was then fixed but went again later the following day. Not great for guests arriving with heavy bags. Thankfully a man appeared at reception and assisted me and my mum with our luggage. I'm not sure if he was a hotel employee or a guest but very nice of him whoever he was! - The walls are very thin in the rooms. I could actually hear the man next door snoring. The floorboards are extremely creaky also. Overall, the hotel is nice enough but these points I have raised in my review need worked on if I was to stay here again. Collapse

I am a wheelchair user and arriving at this hotel may be confusing. You have to enter through the fitness club and take the lift up. The first of the smiling staff to meet you is the fitness club attendant. He helpfully gets you to a reception where you meet another smile and in no time you are in the well appointed disabled room. They do not have a chef but a magician who produces fabulous meals at the drop of a hat. The staff in the restaurant never stop smiling and work with total efficiency. Collapse

Easy to find, town centre hotel. Car park at rear, steps to the Reception at the front (unless you walk further around the side) and good welcome from front desk, helpful with check in and explaining the facilites. Stayed on first floor (the lift is fine but it is small for more than a couple of people....). Had a decent room, pretty quiet for town centre and situated at rear - front rooms could be affected by main road noise. Decor finish was fine, good bathroom and excellent shower! Hospitality tray is in drawer. Hair dryer in room too. We had robes provided for the Superior room, which is always welcome. Just a note that the building is quite 'sprawling' and accommodation can be in one of three parts of the premises, with a long walk including several stairs to some parts so check that if a lift is needed that the room is accessible by this. Nice leisure facilities: decent pool, steam room (does need the missing couple of tiles replaced, easy to do to improve the experience) and sauna. Good range of kit for the gym. Spa not working on visit but no great issue with that. Cafe at leisure reception has a nice choice of refreshments. Staff welcoming, happy to help. Could do with adding a few extras seats for the pool side though...... Did not eat at hotel in evening, but would echo comments about the breakfast needing an improvement to keep the servery stocked ahead of guests having to ask for items, plus making sure there is someone in charge to monitor the flow. Buffet style choice was fine for the breakfast - fresh fruits, juices, cereals, cooked choices, etc...... and quite happy with the quality. Staff were very good but operated under unecessary pressure. 3 star rated hotel, delivers a good experience. Collapse

Clean, friendly, not bad value. 8 of us stopped here as part of a weekend motorbike trip. Rooms were clean and presentable, breakfast was self service and comprehensive catering for all tastes. Staff were very friendly and helpful, we were offered the use of a secure car park for the bikes but unfortunately it was a bit too far from the hotel to satisfy our security requirements. We parked at the front of the hotel and the gentleman on reception hinted that the night porter would keep an eye on things for us (nice touch). Overall a pleasant experience. Collapse
