Started journey off by calling at Market Drayton - had a couple of hours browsing the small market town. It was very good with the car park bang in the centre of the shops. Then carried on to Telford Shopping Centre - very good. Then to our hotel for an overnight stay. The B & B hotel was excellent with nice grounds and views including the Wrekin. The facilities and staff at The Buckatree Hall were second to none - one of the best hotels I have stayed in during my lifetime (75 years). To round the weekend off we called at Shrewsbury on the way home. Collapse

Great hotel for walking the area especially The Wrekin. Reception were helpful, bar staff brilliant. resteraunt manager amazing, rest of resteraunt staff hit and miss and last of all the housekeeping team......diabolical. We found soiled underpants from the last occupant under the chair......disgusting. Cobwebs all over the room. They were not newly formed ones but had obviously been there for some time. When we informed reception we assumed they would be removed.......wrong ! they were still there the next day and doubtlessly they still are. It would appear the owners rarely visit the property and this shows in the lack of training from the vast majority of staff. Some are amazing. The young man who ran the bar was engaging, professional, and yet had that rare quality of coming across as your best friend and making you feel valued and welcome within the hotel. The housekeeping team are clearly left to their own devices and I fear if a new manager isn't put in very soon the hotel will only go one way....down. It's a tough world out there right now for the hospitality trade and managers and owners need to be on top of staff standards and staff training. The ones that do this will succeed and the ones that don't (as in this case) will fold. It would be a pity to see it close as it is a lovely hotel and in a great location. Collapse
