Upon examining the room, I found a trail of ants along the bathtub shower area and another trail of ants near the fridge area. (See photos - it is absolutely disgusting.) Did housekeeping decide to ignore insects? My partner also got a couple of mosquito bites after we took an afternoon nap, and we later found a couple of mosquitoes flying around the room. I would forgive if I find insects in a jungle lodge, but this is a city hotel. If a hotel cannot control an ant problem, then I wonder what other bugs are in the room. Completely disappointed with the price paid for this room. The only positive? Proximity to the Fountain Trevi. Collapse

Without question the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The location though is fantastic, right next to the Trevi Fountain and in the centre of Rome, you can walk to all of the main attractions from this base camp. However, the hotel is very tired, poorly maintained and staffed by disenfranchised employees. I have looked back at other reviews (albeit a little late!) and note that the management of this hotel claim when responding to bad (but very accurate) reviews, that the reviewer must have the wrong hotel, which is very insulting when they clearly do not. For the avoidance of any doubt, I have uploaded pictures with this review of the hotel as evidence that it is the correct hotel and to clearly demonstrate some of the issues that guests are subjected too at this impoverished establishment. The Positives: Great location (there are no others). The Truth: Hotel is rundown and in a state of disrepair. Room (301) - The wallpaper is pealing off the wall (images attached) Lampshades have burn marks (image attached) Iron - Requested an ironing board and iron which promptly arrived, but it resembled a Fisher Price Toy and the power lead was dangerous and frayed with wires sticking out (pic attached). Bathroom - The towel rail had fixings missing and was attached on one end by one screw which was hanging out of the wall (see attached image). Paint pealing off the bathroom ceiling and coving, again pics attached to evidence this. The bathroom towels are disgusting, wafer thin and must be as old as the Colosseum. The room was on the 3rd floor and was noisy, very noisy. Breakfast - Served in the basement by stressed and disinterested staff. The offering was poor and no toaster for the bread. Honestly, how much does a toaster cost?! We elected not to bother with the hotel breakfast on the second morning and paid to have something decent and edible nearby! One evening (11pm) we returned to a locked hotel (no one on the front desk). After pressing the bell several times someone appeared and unlocked the door with a key and turned on his heals and walked away, he did not even open the door, just walked off! In short this hovel is an embarrassment to the hotel industry and to Rome. It is tired, not maintained and in serious need of renovation, not to mention staff training. The owners and management are clearly maximising profits and running the place on a shoe string. This is a fair, honest and accurate review. DO NOT CLAIM I HAVE REVIEWED THE WRONG HOTEL, as is your standard response to reviews that you do not like! As far as I am concerned, the only questionable reviews are those that say this hovel is ok. Not so much 'boutique', more bombastic! DO NOT STAY HERE. Collapse

We had the misfortune to stay at this hotel from 26/04/18 to 28/04/18 for two nights, first the the positives. The beds were very comfortable and the location was perfect for the sites, there it ends thus begins the nightmare. We arrived having booked a twin room, but got a double. The receptionist said did we really want a twin! We said yes. He said they would adjust the beds for when we got back from our afternoon in the city. On our return some 6 hours later and wanting to get ready to go our in the evening nothing had been done. There now a different guy on reception. After some discussion a very pleasant young man (the cleaner) sorted the beds out. On close inspection of our room there were many unsatisfactory faults, the list , broken toilet flush which fell off the wall, broken a/c controller which also fell off the wall. Fungus and bacteria growth in the tap and corner of the bath, rust on the metal under sink rack, the sink was also coming away from the wall. Towels that were like rags, one small wardrobe with only 5 hangers and the wood surround was peeling away, now drawers In the morning we went down to breakfast fearing the the worst at 8.30, low and behold virtually no food available, no fresh fruit or yoghurt/ no toaster/ what was out was a disgrace. We came down at 7.30 the next day to find even less food, tables not cleared away and 1 very unhelpful member of staff, other guests were asking for service and basically ignored. This so called hotel is a very poor example of 2 star but claims to be 4 star, it is being run on a shoestring budget for 4 star prices Rome is an amazing place to visit , but you would be better off sleeping rough than staying here! Amazingly the receptionist didn't ask if we had a good visit and on arrival didn't offer any guidance of seeing the best of Rome! infant the night porter locked us out and didn't even speak to us when he unlocked the doors - we could have been anyone! I have stayed in this hotel several times and I think it is hard to beat for both value and location. It is just a short walk from the Trevi Fountain and also convenient for many other popular attractions such as the Pantheon, the Forum and the Colosseum. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the rooms are very nice too. I would thoroughly recommend it. Collapse
