Booked this hotel to visit family. Normally I would stay with them but it wasn’t possible on this visit. Bosworth Hall was the closest hotel so thought it would be a good choice. For my needs the location was good. The hotel from the outside looks lovely, an old building with a picturesque frontage. I pre-booked and checked in at mid afternoon on a Friday and was dealt with efficiently. Even at that time of day there were hardly any parking spaces left. At 10.30pm when I returned there wasn’t a parking space left (I parked in the staff car park, I was a lone woman and the site is not well lit) Reception is very tired looking with dreadful carpet and brown woodwork I was allocated room 166 which was along a corridor leading to the Health Spa. It took me a while to find the room, there seems to be numerous corridors and directions to rooms poorly signed. I wasn’t alone I spoke to two other guests who had found difficulties in locating their rooms (we did laugh about it). The room was adequate for my needs. Small with a double bed but really a single room. The bathroom was again small. There was a safety mat to put in the bath when showering but no bath mat to place on the floor. There was no safety rail or hand rail to assist with getting out of the bath. There wasn’t a telephone in the bathroom for use in the case of an emergency. I booked for breakfast which was very disappointing. Breakfast was buffet style. Tea & coffee was also serve yourself - a hot water urn with tea bags, coffee sachets and - a bowl of coffee granules. Yogurt & fruit was on offer - very watery yogurt and tinned oranges, grapefruit and prunes. The cooked breakfast looked most unappetising, over cooked and dried out. I had scrambled eggs, rasher of bacon and tinned tomatoes. There were no pastries or croissants. The breakfast room and bar area were very 1970’s in design, dark brown tables and chairs and Tiffany style lamps and highly patterned carpets. During my stay there were two coach parties which resulted in a very busy breakfast time on Saturday morning but had little impact on Sunday morning. Bosworth Hall is cheap and cheerful and it’s a case of ‘what you see is what you get’. In actual fact it needs a complete makeover and update. Collapse

Went a year ago and wasn’t impressed, still not but getting better. Lovely setting and building but! Some places had a lick of paint and trying to get a bit nicer and staff seem to be more professional. Still does need investment rotting window frames at the back, poor carpets, old furniture in bedrooms, cocktail bar shut at 10 pm ? Offer loads of ‘deals’ for people at wknds so appealing to a certain market !!! Breakfast ok but average, pool improved. For a bed and a lovely evening in Market Bosworth fine. Collapse
Really disappointed stay.

I visited here in April, with my mum. On first impressions the hotel is stunning, the grounds, the building, the setting, all fantastic, however once inside and its all down hill. The car park outside the hotel was full so i had to park further down the road at the spa club and when checking in I asked the Trainee on reception if this would be ok? her reply was "I guess so." I should have realised at this point that our stay was going to be problematic. When booking I'd paid for a meal , in what i thought was the restaurant , only to be sent to the carvery for our meal. poor choice of meat, just 2 choices of veg and 1 choice of potato. Soup was like a thick gloop, pate was all dry and discoloured and the desserts were soggy because they had been frozen.I went and spoke to reception about the meal as i was expecting to eat in the restaurant but the trainee on reception said she was unable to help me as she didn't realise that there was more than one place to eat in the hotel so passed me to the other receptionist who was in a debate with another customer about him not being able to purchase food in the restaurant as they do not accept cards, only room charge or cash????? he was totally irate and listening to the way the conversation went, I totally understand why. when this customer left the she looked at me, rolled her eyes and said she didn't get paid to be spoken to like that. Well I'm sorry but one, you brought most of it on yourself and two, commenting, to another guest, on the situation is most definitely not professional. Anyway, back to my meal, turns out she was unable to help me so she got the duty manager who wasn't at all interested in my complaint and, totally missing my point, told me not to worry, i wouldn't be charged again for eating in the carvery instead of the restaurant. So after a horrendous meal we decided to have a few cocktails in the lounge. Every table has a cocktail menu on it, along with other menu's for drinks etc. So my mum goes to order the drinks only for the bar staff to look at her and ask what is she talking about??? the cocktails on the menu I point out, only to be told, oh we don't do them here, you have to go to the cocktail bar. I'm like Really!!!!! you have the menu for these drinks on every table. Ok , finding the cocktail bar is another subject. The bar staff point my mum loosely in the direction of the bar. Now my mum is elderly and her sense of direction is horrendous so it doesn't take long for her to get confused, or lost. so she asked another member of staff along the way if they could point her in the right direction, only to be told that they didn't realise they had a cocktail bar, or where it was. It took my mum 20 minutes to find the bar and order the drinks , only to be told she couldn't pay on card, only room charge or cash....., never stayed in a hotel in the UK before that doesn't accept cards...what if you have people who are not guests, just popping in for a drink?? OK, enough about staff, what about the hotel? the carpets are stained, furniture is worn, beds are very uncomfortable, pillows are cheap and nasty, eating areas are unpleasant. Room was very noisy from some kind of venting duct outside our window. I did fill a customer satisfaction survey in while at the hotel but as I had to hand it in to the reception staff , I doubt my opinions will make it further than the nearest bin! Come on Britannia Hotels, this place has so much potential, sack your staff, invest some money in training new staff, update the interior and turn this beautiful building in to the stunning hotel its screaming out to be. Came here for a relaxing day at the spa. felt more like the local leisure centre. kids running up and down the main area, club music on in the background. kids in the pool splashing around, not very clean. steam room was like a small box felt suffocated in there, didn't even want to use any of the other facilities just wanting to get out of there. far from relaxing when you have club music, kids running up and down the main section. then the afternoon tea came, disgusting sandwiches that didn't go; scones were cold and looked like something you could have got from aldi. the treatments were ok although they were all at once so after the treatments you felt like it was pointless staying. there was a relaxing room but it was freezing! really disappointing and will not be returning! wasn't exactly cheap for what it was £65 each. left early because too much noise and felt more stressed. didnt even feel like i had been the spa.
