We made reservations to stay at the Woollen Mills based on the reviews. But as with other locations in Ireland, this location was grossly overrated. The room was average quality at best, and overlooked the garbage dump in the back of the building. Although it didn't smell bad, it didn't look good either. The bed was fairly comfortable, there were sufficient towels in the bathroom. The staff, like most other places we've stayed in Ireland, were very polite and friendly. We did have one mishap. We booked a second night directly with the hotel to give us some time to go through the Woollen Mills. The plan was to take advantage of their free shipping to the US for purchases of €250. We got confirmation of the reservation and they took a deposit from our credit card. When we called down to the desk to find out if we could keep the same room to avoid moving our belongings to a different room, we were told that there were no more rooms available. We explained that we had just booked a second night with the hotel desk. They apologised and told us that was impossible. Of course it was possible because it just happened. Apparently there was a concert in town and no rooms to be had for a 40 kilometre radius. The receptionist said that she would speak with the manager that evening and talk to us again in the morning to see what could be done. In the morning she simply repeated herself and said that the room wasn't available. This left us with even less time to find other accommodations. We went into breakfast, which was included in our room, to give her some time to work it out with her manager. The manager never came to speak to us. When we went into the breakfast room there was just one other table seated. We selected a table, sat down, and ordered our breakfast, a full Irish Breakfast. We noticed that other tables were filling up, people were being served food, eating and leaving, while we continued to wait. Finally I got up to find the waitress to ask what happened to our breakfast?? She said it would be coming straight away and sure enough we were the last to be served. It took us over 45 minutes to get our breakfast!! During that time the hotel receptionist came into the breakfast room to tell us that she had found us a room in another hotel just a few minutes away. Little did we know it would be the room from hell. We paid €200 per night for a room that was worth no more than €110. The one thing that could be said for this hotel was that it was quiet and we got decent sleep. Don't get sucked into this tourist trap like we did. There are a lot of good choices in this area. We booked here expecting a quality hotel due to the blarney woolen mills international reputation. I dont blame the staff really as problems of this magnitude are most definitely a management issue. From the receptionist on arrival ,the bar staff ,the night porter all were without doubt a disaster !!! Unfriendly, unhelpful and no knowledge of the basics in the hospitality industry,a terrible reflection on the other great establishments we have visited in blarney since then. I would advise the management to visit the excellent Muskerry arms or the Blarney hotel an golf resort to observe with open eyes how to improve their offerings ,from the excellent friendly staff ,superb food, cleanliness and geniune irish welcome we received as guests. So if the management heed my advice they too could become like the establishments I mentioned, both of which restored my faith in irish hospitality. Collapse
Very Nice Hotel

The hotel was very nice, clean, friendly staff. The location was great. Next to the Blarney Castle and a little village with shops along the street. It had a couple of pubs and the Blarney Woollen Mills shop right next to it.
