Disappointing as in a whole week I couldn’t get into the small car park and had to park on the street (which is free and only a 2minute walk). Food is okay, but breakfast always had burnt sausage and bacon. Rooms are basic, but I wasn’t expecting too much more, they are dated and tired. Corridors smelt, but rooms were clean. Collapse

I stayed at this hotel when I went down to attend my granddaughter's graduation. I booked on line and having never been before I chose a hotel with parking, not too fussed on quality as it was only 1 night. I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel, staff were very friendly, amenities were good, room was very clean and bed extremely comfortable. I also booked breakfast, there was an excellent choice and all good quality food. The hotel is directly across from the sea front and has excellent views. I would certainly recommend this hotel. Cannot actually state enough how much I DO NOT recommend this hotel - it is an absolute disgrace. I have so many issues with this hotel which resulted in a shambolic and disappointing stay, which was unfortunately for my Dad’s 50th birthday. PARKING - the website advertises free parking. This couldn’t be further from the truth. There are about 15 parking spots (of which many result in you being blocked in) for hundreds of hotel rooms. We were unable to park onsite at the hotel and had to park far down the round in an insecure road of which we were particularly uncomfortable about. FOOD - the food was horrific. We paid for breakfast for our stay and wish we hadn’t. The food was dripping in oil and looked as if it had been stood for many days and reused each day. The restaurant was filthy and staff had little interest in being supportive of any requirements or even getting a hot drink. Couldn’t use the bar during our stay due to the number of weddings filling every space. NOISE - 4 wedding receptions were on in a single night. This resulted in tremendous noise especially being in the room next door to one of the wedding receptions! It was 30degrees heat in the day and we had to close all windows to drown out some of the noise as we couldn’t hear our TV and there was no air conditioning. People were shouting and swearing outside our room, threatening to “bash people’s doors in”. The hotel was not only loud, but also unsafe. CLEANLINESS - incredibly poor standards of cleanliness. Bedding didn’t smell fresh, carpets had sick stains on them and the skirting boards were littered with years of dust and mould with carpets fraying from the edges. The room smelt musty and the corridors smelt of cigarette smoke. The hotel was already outdated, tired and poor quality with inadequate cleanliness topping it off. LOCATION - very unsafe and poor location with many people spotted taking drugs outside the hotel and along the seafront. Unusually high numbers of individual men lingering around the area. Only benefit is that it is right on the seafront which is great if you have a sea view room or could use the bar rather than being trapped in a small room overlooking a mouldy rooftop. An utter shambolic disgrace and Best Western should be ashamed to have this “hotel” under its name. Will never be returning to this inadequate mess. Collapse

My partner and I spent 2 nights here in February booking via Expedia. On arrival and as he hotel was quiet, we were upgraded to a Queen room with sea view, which was a nice surprise. I don't often stay at hotels, preferring apartments, so this was a treat for me anyway. The room was nice and airy with a large and very comfortable bed, well equipped bathroom and a small balcony overlooking the sea, which was unfotuantely too small to actually go out on. It didn't matter too much at that time of year anyway, despite the unseasonabbly warm weather. A fridge would have been nice, but there was plenty of room for the one we bought with us from home. We could have had breakfast at the hotel for a little extra, but most places like this don't cater very well for gluten free, so it was easier for us to bring our fridge so we could have breakfast in the room - the Coop virtually next door made this easy, as was buying stuff to eat later on after a bigger lunch in town. Yes it was a bit noisy at night with the traffic, but not too bad out of season, and yes, parts of the hotel are a bit dated and the car park not the easiest to get in and out of with all the pillars, but we managed fine and it was more than adequate for us given the price. Everything was clean, the bed was comfortable and the staff helpful anf friendly so that's all that really matters. Collapse
