Standing in the shadow of York Minster, the BEST WESTERN PLUS Dean Court Hotel enjoys, without a doubt, the finest location of any hotel in the city (if not the country)! History and heritage lay on our doorstep, with the county capitals major attractions, boutique shops and eateries all a short walk away. Speaking of walks, the citys famous ghost tours are well worth joining, while plenty of parkland can be enjoyed on a relaxing stroll through the nearby museum gardens. York Races is of course a draw if you fancy a flutter, but the safest bet of all is our award-winning cuisine and fine wines! Leeds, Harrogate and Knaresborough are all within easy reach, but we agree with the Vikings and Romans. York is the place to be! Please note that if the room description does not state breakfast is included, then it is for only the room.

All of the previous reviewers have got it right....this hotel is quite exceptional- the staff are all on the ball and wonderful. The room was spotlessly clean and very well appointed- a well stocked selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cookies and water are provided as is a trouser press (always a bonus!) and an umbrella! The bathroom provides the best white fluffy towels we have encountered in a long time and fresh bathrobes ( that appear never to have been worn) are a much appreciated touch. As others have said, the location is perfect. It is only 50yards away from York Minster and is, in itself, a stunning looking building. The Management seem to pay attention to all the ‘little things’.....exquisite flower arrangements and tasteful flowering baskets. No small detail is overlooked - this is a real class act! All the staff we encountered were polite, cheerful and helpful in a good old fashioned, respectful way. We will definitely return! Collapse

Lovely hotel right next to the Minster. The room was great but the service and attention to detail was outstanding. Personal touches like birthday and anniversary cards meant a great deal as did complimentary gifts. Personal cards and emails from the manager were also surprising and most welcome. They sure know how to look after you. The valet parking was a real bonus too. Well worth the money if you don't need your car for your stay Collapse

We were put in this hotel after another Best Western hotel we had booked rang us to cancel because of a flood. Thank the lord for the flood, this hotel is excellent. It is positioned fifty yards from the entrance to York Minster! On arrival our car was taken to secure parking and our booking in was seamless. Our room had just been done up and was extremely comfortable and spacious. Included in our two night stay was an evening meal on the first night, this was an excellent meal with superb service from the staff. The breakfast again was excellent, it set us up for the day. All in all a really nice hotel which we would recommend and we would definitely stop there again. Collapse

Booked for hubbys 50th birthday treat. Couldn’t get a better location and as near to York Minster if you tried. Bit more expensive than what we usually stay in, but couple of nights won’t break the bank. Our room was at the back of the hotel (room 10) and when we arrived it was on the hottest May Day Bank Holiday for a long time. Room was warm but after turning off heating, soon cooled down. My only bug bear was the room being at the back of the hotel, was near to the cooling fans which were constantly going 24/7 and with the hot weather even with the room fan on, and having to keep the windows open because of the heat, was noisy, but luckily I had brought earplugs. However, I would like to recommend that the hotel invests in air conditioning, so that the windows don’t need to be open all the time when hot. The staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough for you. We didn’t have room service, but the breakfast was substantial and poached eggs excellent. The breakfast kept us going whilst sightseeing until late lunch. Room was spotless and clean, and little extras make it special. The bed was a small double, so if you are on the larger side, I would upgrade a bit, as it can be a bit snug otherwise. We chose to drive there, and use the hotels secured parking facilities, which was great, as parking is at a premium when it’s busy in York. You pay for the parking privilege but we thought it was well worth it. Next time, we would get the train, as the hotel is only five minutes from the station. Such a beautiful hotel, and if it could talk, I am sure it would have a few tales to tell. Eating breakfast with a view of York Minster and the sun coming up in the morning was worth it, just for that. Will be back soon, probably when it’s a little bit quieter, as a Bank Holiday and the sun shining makes for a lot of people, and hen and stag parties equals a lot of drunken people falling out of pubs, which isn’t something families with young kids want to see and hear. But it as so nice to return back to Dean Court Hotel for a cup of lovely tea and some peace and relaxation in the bar after the hustle and bustle. Collapse

My wife, 10 year old son and I stayed here in April 2018 for 3 nights. We originally booked this hotel based on its location and other Trip Advisor reviews. On both counts we were not disappointed! The hotel is right next to York Minster, and no more than a 10 minute walk to anywhere in the old part of York. Our room (we had a family suite) was very spacious, quiet, comfortable and well appointed. We ate in the restaurant each night for dinner and the food and service were excellent - and the breakfasts were great too! One particular thing I'd like to mention is the hotel staff - the staff here genuinely care about their guests. On one of our days my son was sick with a fever. The staff immediately arranged for a small breakfast tray to be brought up to our room for him, and continued to ask during the day if he was OK. When he was better and came downstairs they all asked how he was, and we were very touched by all the care and attention. So, if you're looking for a great hotel in York, then Dean Court should be the only place you stay. It's fantastic! Collapse
