Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings. Room was beautiful and overlooked a lovely stream and fabulous trees. Only stayed one night and it was very pleasant and very busy. Only down side was the slimline tonic was 1 year out of date - check your stock. Young bar staff changed it very kindly and apologised, so all good. All in all lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings. The hotel had been visited for a forthcoming event, and had passed the requirement requested, however it now appears the hotel was in the cusp of ownership change, which resulted in a pretty poor showing. The reception was acceptable, the rooms were a littel like upmarket "Butlin's Chalets " although presentation was better, the room was clean and no real moans apart from the bath water was luke-warm, reported but no action. the restaurant allocated for our use was well laid out with white crisp table linen, however what was offered was not what one expects from a 2 rosette star establishment, the food was not up to standard, some dishes were presented undercooked, and it could be seen that quite a number were being returned with little taken off the plates, when questioned the so called waiter only stated " no one else had complained, quite rude, and certainly needs some staff training. It was regretable that a number had upset digestion and one couple were so ill had to leave, was it the food or was there a bug going round? The breakfast was set out in what can only be described as kindergarden tables where one had to be cramped and once seated not to move, the selection was in pre-heated containers, it did not look too good, we avoided and had cornflakes. The rest of the two days were similar, poor service, poor food, poor staff who lacked any thought for the diners'. Sitting in the small lounge reading newspapers one was then invaded by staff in reception, all chatting, at 4.00pm one decided to "hoover" the area, this should be done by 7.30am not when being used by guests. The whole place gave one that it lacked management, no fine detail that would put the hotel in a much more welcome position. Having visited many hotels throughout the world this one lacked in many ways, would we return , NO it is one of poorest rated hotel's that we have stayed in. Get some management skills and perhaps it could be better rated. Some may say it is satisfactory, but if one has quite high standards, then the 2 rosettes as stated becomes a joke, they should be stripped until it comes up the the requirements. Collapse

Visited Quy Mill as a stop-over while visiting Addenbrookes. Excellent Restaurant and dining experience with attentive staff and high quality cuisine and presentation. Duck was succulent and Halibut tasty. Bar staff went out of their way to help when there was a shortage of low-level tables. Disappointing lack of draft bitter due to recent events. Room was pleasant, but lack of a non-slip mat in the bath and no grab rail meant it would be easy to loose footing. Collapse

Chose to stay here due to the closeness to Anglesey Abbey. Despite differing previous reviews we were not disappointed. We stayed in the sort of barn buildings.Room clean, comfortable and spacious with coffee/tea making facilities, you can ask for extra milk etc. at reception, and various products in the bathroom. The room was hot when we arrived but the ceiling fan worked fine. Word of warning the floors do squeak so be prepared for some noise, didn't really bother us though. We ate in the bar as the menu suited us better, food was good, tasty and hot. Need to have more staff on though to cover all areas, felt they were being stretched. Had to go looking for someone to serve us. Staff unfailingly polite, friendly and helpful. Would like to be offered 2 tariffs for breakfast, continental only breakfast and one for those that want everything. I invariably end up paying a lot of money for a bowl of porridge, which was very good by the way, the porridge that is. The carpets in the bar and restaurant could do with a deep clean. The shower screen being fixed does mean that you have to step into the slippery part of the bath with only the towel rail to hang onto. Extra non slip surface in the bath required. The gardens are lovely and there is a patio area outside where you can sit and enjoy them. It is near the A14 so you must expect some traffic noise. All in all we enjoyed our stay. Collapse
