Hotel was great - a little further than I thought but 15 min in taxi to Princes St. Food in hotel was really great - our party of 11 all had great rooms, really spacious. One on small size but I was in room on own so it was fine. Cleanliness could be a little better in room. Glass on wardrobe still had finger prints all over from a previous guest and mirrors very dusty and quite chilly in bathroom and the floor was stone but overall a great hotel. Collapse

An enjoyable long weekend for the whole family at the Best Western Braid Hills Hotel (2 Night Offer & 1st Night Dinner) , the decor in our rooms was a little dated but clean, staff were brilliant, lots to eat on Friday night, not the most exciting menu but good food and wine. Our wardrobe door was off its track and wouldn't open, the pillows were a bit hard, the radiator in the bathroom was leaking and the toilet flush needed attention but overall good value for money and adequate for our needs. Really loved the Lion King performance at the playhouse and managed to get a bus from outside the hotel straight to the playhouse and back again, £3.50 for an adult all day ticket was great value and buses very regular and easy to use. This was a last minute booking on the return leg of a Scotland tour. The hotel is very imposing and a little out of town, but the bus links make this a cheaper alternative to visit Edinburgh city centre options. Situated in the Morningside suburb of town there are local restaurants and cafes, but the Hotel does have a high quality restaurant if you do not wish to venture out. Our room was stylish but on the 3rd floor. Be warned there are no lifts. I had 2 bags to carry up 3 flights of stairs. If you have any issues with this I strongly advise you to book a lower room before arriving. This said I would still go back as its a great place to get to and easy to go into town from. Collapse

Easter Monday family lunch. Restaurant was very quiet, which is a pity as room is large, bright with a good view or Braidburn Park. Choice of starters was excellent. Sharing platters very tasty. Main courses , involved a lot of fish even anchovies with the lamb which may create problems for non pescatorians, however the grill menu rescued the situation. Service was attentive , not oppressive. The lack of customers allowed toddler to take advantage of running space to explore. All in all an enjoyable experience. Collapse
