Just wanted to a change of scenery but not to be too far away from home, as we have a child, we opted for hatfield, because we wanted to shop, and see a movie, then have some food, fulfilled al the criteria, and we got some lovely weather that day, so were able to walk around. Rounded off our evening with a drink at the bar and sat outside. View of the car park wasnt fab, would have been lovely if it were an outside pool!!! But the hotel was very nice, contemporary with fantastic artwork from the local uni. Great staff. Collapse

I tried to arrange a gift for my friends who were staying at the hotel for their anniversary. I rang up on the day of their arrival to be told that they don't accept card payment over the phone - what hotel doesn't accept payments over the phone??? I was asked to send an email with my card details, which I couldn't as I was going to work and said I wasn't happy. The reception manager was very patronising and unhelpful. He took my number to so that he could check with the hotel management and call me back. No return phone call - surprise, surprise!! Very disappointed with the customer service and attitude. Will not be recommending. Seems from other reviews staff customer service needs more training!!! Collapse

Every time we travel from Asia to Hatfield for work, we stay here. It’s a nice warm hotel with friendly staff and great location. However, this time, an old woman(supervisor, sadly didn’t get her name) ruined the whole experience. While having a discussion in the hotel bar with our English team members, she abruptly popped up , without any self-introduction, and accused: what are you doing? (Me:Talking...) And she went on to say, “you can’t do this!” (Me:Do what?) She went on to accuse us of “selling” things...... I’m not sure why she thought that way, because we have some product and paper on the table that we were talking about? Then she accused us not ordering anything. But the fact was we ordered.....and it never came................. when she realized she made a mistake and a wrongful accuse, she just walked away without any apology! My English colleague was deeply embhassased! I hope the owner of Beale Hotel sees this post! Base on her attitude, I can’t help but wonder if this has something to do with our Asian appearances? I decide not to think down that path. This is really not the Beales I know. Reputation is hard to build, but extremely easy to be destroyed. You hired a wrong person to be the supervisor in hospitality industry. Collapse

First time staying here just me and the hubby for two nights. The room was lovely and clean and everything we needed,comfy bed etc. Would have been nice to have a fridge for some bottled water but not a problem. We stayed as part of a groupon offer which included breakfast and an evening meal. The breakfast was fine lots of choice and fresh ingredients etc. The evening meal was a bit of a disappointment to be honest. The problem started when we sat down was given a menu so we started deciding what to have. Then we asked the staff what was included in the group on offer and the menus were then taken off of us and we were told that we have a different menu for group on. So we chose what we wanted which was a little limited either Pork, Salmon or Pasta. Hubby had the pork and I had the salmon which were nice and fresh although the Pork was bloody and had to go back to be cooked longer. Then the staff kept asking us while we were eating about the groupon voucher and if they can see it on our phone to check it etc. A bit uncomfortable being interrupted during eating our food. It seemed that they staff were not all aware of what offers they are running and it seems there are some training needs here in this department. We witnessed other diners being questioned about the group on vouchers and also given the non groupon menu like us. Anyway the next night we had the same confusion and was presented with the same groupon menu as the night before. In other words we had to choose from Pork Salmon or Pasta again so it was very limited and would have been nicer to have more variety. Hubby said to me that it would have been much easier to have a set amount value off ( from the groupon part ) of the normal menu. In other words you can choose anything from the menu up to the value of say £30 for example. That way there would have been more variety and choice. So we were just relieved that we weren’t staying any longer otherwise we would have had been presented with the same 3 choices for dinner again. Overall I think staff need to know exactly wot the offers that the hotel are running are and I also think the staff appeared a little ‘ flat ‘ in there mood/demeaner . Would return but only if these issues were addressed. Collapse
