Lovely staff at the hotel especially osam from Algeria on reception sun 13 May. I was ill and he was absolutely amazing the way he looked after me and my ten year old daughter. Without his assistance it would have been really hard for my daughter as I couldn’t leave the bed. We are very very grateful. He deserves a medal! The hotel itself is a basic three star and perfectly fine for a short stay though the decor is a bit gloomy ! However, it’s in a great location and all the staff were kind, friendly and made it a pleasure to be staying there. Best wishes and thank you again osam - it was a pleasure to meet you. Collapse

My girlfriend and I had a stay in Hotel Bass for two nights and we really had a very nice stay. The staff was very friendly. The service to fill up empty stuff at the breakfast was so good, you did. Not even realiced if something was empty. Room was clean. Only the shower was a bit small but really something not very important. We definately would book there again! Collapse

Hotel Basss was a last minute booking for us because AirBNB cancelled our reservation TWO days before our trip, and we are so very glad we booked here. First of all, the location of the hotel is excellent. Montmartre is a lively area near Sacre Coure, Moulin Rouge, flea markets on the weekends, and a number of metros. Grocery stores were within walking distance, as well as a number of restaurants (Chinese, French, Middle Eastern, etc.), patisseries, brasseries and others. Now on to the hotel itself. The staff were friendly and helpful. Checking in was no problem, and the room was just finished being clean as we walked up. They are eco-friendly, and offer an organic treat if you don't have them clean the room. The room had a king-size bed, which was a bit of a surprise as I mostly saw double beds for two people on other websites, and it was a rather comfy and slightly firm mattress. The style is pretty modern, with wood-look floors, recycled wood shelves, and a modernish bathroom design. Now on to the not so good. The shower is super tiny. I believe it was a 3 foot by 3 foot square with a curtain. When trying to shower the curtain would stick to whoever was showering and pull away from the wall letting water run out. To make it work we would have to wet ourselves, open the curtain, lather up, then close the curtain and rinse. The air conditioning is controlled from the front desk even though there is a temperature control panel inside the room. We were sweltering some nights and had no way to change the temperature. If calling the front desk to change it, they told us only the day person could change the temperature. During the day they would change the temperature, but for some reason it would get changed back to a higher setting, and we would be sweating at night again. Luckily, the temperature would drop a bit at night, so we were able to survive the heat of the room. I don't know if the reason for not letting the occupants of the room control the temperature is for eco-friendliness, but this would definitely be a problem for hotter months. Housekeeping did come and clean, but they did not do much of the organizing that I have gotten in many other hotels. At some hotels it seems like you're walking into a brand new room that just happens to have all of your things in it nicely organized. This was not really like that. The beds were made, the trash was taken out, and the bathroom would be resupplied with their toiletries. This was about the extent of the housekeeping, which may be the norm with hotels in Paris at this price range, so not bad at all, but not amazing either. The final not so great point was that there was no mini-fridge inside the room. As my wife and I try to travel on a budget and take leftovers from restaurants, a mini-fridge is usually a great thing to have. Breakfast was a decent affair. They usually had sliced cured meat (like salami), ham, cheese, croissants, bread, cereals, dried fruits, nuts, plus coffee, milk, and juice. Not a huge spread, and nothing hot, but adequate to get going in the morning. So all in all Hotel Basss was a great little hotel for a decent price in a great area. Biggest issues were the AC, no mini-fridge, and tiny shower. If we were traveling to Paris again, we would possibly stay here again. This would mainly be due to the location and friendliness of the staff. Collapse
