Nothing is too much trouble for the staff in this hotel. From check in to check out you could not fault the service. Our shower broke whilst there and they had fixed it within 20mins. On Valentines Day we got engaged and the restaurant staff went the extra mile to dress up a table with candles, champagne and even spent time cutting out paper hearts to make our meal that evening extra special. Yes the hotel is dated but it is clean, in an amazing sea view position and you could not get better service in a five star. Thankyou Auramar Collapse

My husband and I stayed at the Auramar Beach resort hotel 3rd feb to 6th Feb, I was a little worried by reading some of the reviews on here but I have to say we had a fantastic holiday and stay at this hotel! The hotel itself is lovely! The pool are is fab with amazing views! We went all inclusive so the snack bar at the pool which is actually quite a good snack bar serving tea, coffee, drink and food was great, the staff that worked in the snack bar while we where there where so lovely and helpful also! On checking in the staff where also lovely, very helpful and polite, we did have to pay a 10 euro deposit for the room key but to be fair im pretty sure that deposit has to be paid for a reason - maybe too many keys had gone missing etc.. you get it back when you hand your key back in so its not an issue at all. We booked a sea view room and that we got. There was a block in front of us but we could still see the sea from our balcony. The room was nice, a lot of people say the rooms are outdated etc.. il go with saying it had some Portuguese charm! The room was clean and comfortable it had everything we needed, there was no kettle in the room however you could request one from reception, as we where all inclusive we had no need for one as their was plenty of tea and coffee available in the resort. The restaurant was lovely, the food selection was great, plenty of fresh salads, cheese, fruit, meats etc etc to choose from, we ate breakfast on two mornings, had lunch one of the days and ate dinner in the restaurant each of the three nights, we had a different meal each of the nights and all the food tasted fantastic. The staff in the restaurant where all lovely, very helpful and polite and could have a bit of a laugh! We didn't venture very far at night as we where all inclusive and it was a short break we went to the dancing bar in the evenings, the sat night the entertainement was really good, it was Tina night and everyone had a great night, all inclusive drinks include house wine, local beer, local spirits and cocktails all of which are fine! There is a two drink per person rule however when you see the ques you can understand why it makes for a faster more effeciant way of serving customers. No point in complaining, take the two drinks and go back for more if you need to simple as that. The bar stops serving at 11PM. There is a small shop in the resort near the indoor pool, it sells snacks, swimwear, towels, drinks etc.,. however we did find it a bit pricey compared to a little shop we found a five minute walk away from the resort, we went to it to get water for the room etc rather than purchase it on the resort. The hotel is in a fantastic location you can walk directly onto the beach via a gate from the hotel, the beach is absolutely stunning! The steps are a little steep so take comfy shoes! The hotel is about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the "strip" it is filled with little shops and lots of bars, cheap enough through the day, little more expensive at night. The resort runs a free shuttle bus to the old town three times daily. we went into the old town on our second day and had lunch in one of themany restaurants in the old town! We ate our lunch outside in the sun watching the sea, it was gorgeous! The old town wasn't overly expensive, the food was lovely and the people where very friendly. We stopped in the square for a drink in one of the many pubs, again not overly pricey but then we went out of season! Lots and lots of little nick nack shops dotted along the cobbled streets, I loved the old town!! ITs a beautiful area! All in all a fab holiday. the hotel is lovely, the staff where helpful, the pool and beach are fab. We did notice work being done on the hotel while we where there and what looked to be a second pool area being fixed up for the summer! We will defo be back around the same time next year it was a lovely stay and we where very happy with the resort and staff! Collapse

Good hotel, great location and i would go again to start with. Some practical tips. Room good size, tiled floor, so you hear shoes from room above and chairs being moved, adjoining door, so you hear noise from next door, so take ear plugs in case you have noisy neighbours. Some rooms have m/wave, hob, but most have fridge. i took travel kettle, but you may be able to hire one, not 100%. Hire hair dryer also. 4 news channels on tv in English, so upload some programmes. Take cards etc. Indoor pool small and does not have changing room, weather cold to walk back to room wet, so think about that. Food good plenty of choice. If you are not AI and all you want is water, ask for a 'GLASS' of water at evening meal and you don't get charged. A bottle of water will be charged for. Reps room nr toilets in reception. We had plenty of sun and only rain part of one day in 3 weeks (Jan/Feb), but early mornings and late afternoons wind chilly, take body warmer/cardigan/packamac (as easy/light to carry) evenings get very cold, so jacket, gloves, scarf. we had 2 weeks of north wind and daytime needed long trousers and long sleeved items. Sheltered areas ok for sunbathing if you can find some. Much closed at this time of year, but can find enough open. A few cafes etc nearby, Urban Pizza just off Strip has good live music every night and won't blast your ears off. Good atmosphere and friendly staff, you can just drink. Hangover bar by Oura Plaia hotel has live music ea night. Opposite, Sol Café have 3 course meal with drink for 9.95e good value. We found Flavours on front in town has best all-round latte/apple pie cream deal 2.50e. More opening in Feb. Can walk cliff/beaches to Villamoura marina , but watch tide times to get round rocks especially nr Olhas de Agua as no way over cliff as in some other places. With add ons either end we did 20k. Lovely walk. Bus back. Ticket Shop/Paradise Tours (in town) cheaper than hotel tours and offer same so check first. Giro Bus 4 colour routes 1.40e per ride, can use same ticket to change for different colour if within 1 hr. They leave main bus stn on hour and 1/2 past, but no set time on stop, so have to work it out from map. Albeferia only. No train stn nearby. Bus to resorts up and down coast. Check car hire before you go as can be much cheaper than in resort. Look at ones that are not the 'main' companies. Collapse

We booked this hotel for two week stay in January. When we checked in we found that we had an apartment which was a great bonus in addition our room was on a corner on the fourth, top, floor with a large window looking South straight out to sea and a balcony facing west looking along the beach to Albufeira old town. We booked for room and breakfast. Breakfast in the large restaurant was excellent with a wide range of hot and cold food. Wifi was available in the large reception area. it was easy walking along the beach into the old town. For those less active the hotel has a free bus service into the town. The hotel has both outdoor pools and an indoor pool. We will use this hotel again Collapse
