And the island is an excellent location for walking, mountain climbing, cycling, sailing, golf and the general outdoors with good ferry access. Collapse

The room was on the ground floor with ongoing noise from the room above, and from the car park this was mentioned to the hotel reception and was totally dismissed with no offer of an alternative room or an apology. We ate in the hotel, food was ok but again the staff left a lot to be desired forgetting drinks and side dishes. Collapse

This was my first visit to Arran but will most certainly not be my last. The magnificent views started on the ferry across and continued to get better through my stay. The hotel itself was truly fantastic and can cater for every need. They have just about every facility you could need on site, meaning that you could (if desired) just stay in the hotel. I stayed in the House part but would also have been happy in the main building. The staff quite literally could not have been more helpful. Arran itself is truly beautiful and walking boots are an essential. All in all the hotel really does live up to its 5* rating. I will be back! Collapse

Stayed in one of the lodges for 2 nights with my partner and family. The lodge itself was lovely, there was no hot water and we called and got assistance ASAP. First night we ate in cruize restaurant. We have visited Auchrannie and ate here before. First we were seated and ordered our drinks. They were poured and left on the bar for over 10 minutes. There was no one working behind the bar and no floor staff around. The restaurant was not busy around 3 other tables eating at this time. After a wait our drinks were brought over and we ordered our food. Over all the meal wasn’t great, the staff seemed extremely distracted with getting set up for breakfast the next morning. Most of the staff spent their time over at the breakfast area. Three of us including myself ordered burgers, the burger bun was toasted but extremely cold unsure if this had been left at the side and not toasted last when the burger was ready? Three of us including myself ordered sticky toffee pudding for dessert it arrived and was cold. We were unhappy and trying to get staff assistance again, all staff were surprisingly over chatting at the breakfast area. There was no check back if our meal was ok. A member of my family had to approach a staff member about our cold desserts which we thankfully got replaced. Overall the experience within in the restaurant was poor. I have worked in hospitality for a number of years and I fully understand it can be a challenge when restaurants are busy and there is a huge demand from customers but it was quiet and staff just seemed uninterested. On the other hand on the second night we went to brambles, the staff could not have been any nicer or friendly. The meals were perfect. The staff were extremely professional and we felt really welcome. I would of liked to have given 5 stars like I have in the past but this time I feel extremely dissatisfied. Collapse

Even fairly late in the evening, we could have a room for the Family (2 Children). The reception in the main house was very nice and called allover the place to look for a room. As on short notice we had to wait for the (last available family room) to be prepared, so we visited the playground area. This is a nice place for kids, it even has an outdoor playground. After checking in and changing quickly we went for dinner in the Cruize restaurant. There you realy knew that this is a Family (and dog) Hotel. The softplay area just in the restaurant area is a nice "dessert" for the children. We intended to stay just one night but decided to extend our visit to be able to check out the Spa area. It was no issue, the personell even rearranged other bookings so we could keep our previous room. The Spa was great and well designed for families. As of having two young children to travel with, one should forsee a lot of clothes. But there is a laundry room with a washing machine and tumbler as well as bins for crappy nappies. Collapse

Auchrannie Resort is very peaceful, tranquil and you feel at ease when you arrive. Rooms very comfortable and breakfast really nice. Choice of restaurant out of 3, I would go for the Brambles Seafood & Grill was soo nice. I've a Gluten Free Diet and choice was good and staff took extra attention over the order. Surroundings so peaceful. We were blessed with the weather which was excellent during our stay which for Scotland is very good. Local pub walking distance called the The Ormadale, you have to go for the disco experience. Told by the barman to just 'bring our souls' ha ha. All round good laugh. Staff very friendly, Sophie in Spa very helpful to us all. Would definetely go back. Collapse

Visited here for a party... our room was lovely, tho the view thru tiny windows was disappointing ...the food at our party was very very good and plentiful the service fairly quick.... the thing that spoiled it was the very very unfriendly and unhelpful staff ( well most of them.. there was one really nice chap serving at the bar).. but as he was nice, there was a waitress who was the most rude, arrogant and cheeky that I have ever encountered. She totally spoiled my experience.. But saying that overall fine.. Breakfast was excellent. Collapse
