My wife and I had an excellent time at Atalaya Park resort. We stayed in the main building, which was very convenient for quick access to the restaurant, pools and beautiful garden. The room had two good size single beds and a nice bathroom. We had a balcony looking out over the mountains - a very nice view. Getting a sunbed was never a problem with so many near the spacious swimming pools and on the grass fields. The gardens of the resort are really beautiful and well maintained. The beach was stony, but if you have water shoes on it’s great to swim in the sea. We enjoyed the natural beauty of the bay and the sight of Gibraltar in the distance. What really made our holiday were the dance classes we attended every morning at 11.00. Sumba, Salsa or Cha Cha Cha. Big thanks to Aga who was a most inspiring and encouraging teacher!! At 12.00 she led the aqua gym as well. Great!!! We also enjoyed the evening programme, especially the Flamenco show. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and the evening meal, especially if you like fish, but the one disappointment was the luke-warm food. All in all, we had a great holiday! Collapse

Lovely family holiday. Great hotel in fantastic beach side location. Lots to do for adults & kids - 3 boys aged 12, 14 & 18. Half board good value and varied, well stocked buffet. Fish options very good but boys would have liked more chicken dishes available. Front desk staff first class - Dealt with any issues professionally and to our satisfaction - Thank you. This was our second family holiday to Atalaya Park. Only criticism this time was that the animation team were not as good as in 2016. The range of activities was great however the animation staff did not go out of their way to encourage people of all nationalities and languages to participate in the activities - Our fantastic experience of the animation team in 2016 was one of the deciding factors for returning in 2017. We have just returned from a fabulous week at the Atalaya Park with our four teenagers and would happily go back any time! We booked a half-board package only a month in advance with Thomson but need not have worried - this is a lovely hotel, full of character, with a nice international mix of guests and charming, helpful staff. As others have said, the accommodation is in three blocks set in beautiful grounds - we enjoyed the walk to the amenities: beach, two outdoor and one indoor pool, tennis court, gym and (though we didn't play) golf courses. There is a nice activity programme - including archery and shooting - and excellent fitness classes: aerobics, yoga, Pilates, aqua gym, all great fun with a really good instructor. The beach is a bit stony but there are lovely views over to Gibraltar - there is also a dive school and we would do some scuba if we went back. The pools were great - never overcrowded and we always found sun loungers - the temperature was perfect for us at about 30 degrees. We didn't feel the need to go exploring this time, as we stayed in Andalucia last year, but probably would have hired a car for excursions if we had stayed for a second week. The furthest we went was for a walk up the road to buy picnic food for lunch. It is a bit off the beaten track, but we were very happy with that. The highlight for all of us was the food - our half board meals were served in the Don Quixote restaurant, which was very pleasant, including a terrace area. Both breakfast and evening meal were excellent every day - our teens made repeated trips to fill up their plates, trying new dishes including seafood, paella and Spanish stews. Our cooked food was always freshly cooked and hot (I did make sure to grab a hot plate) and the chips were fantastic. Plenty of healthy salads, fruit and juices as well - something for everyone and continuously topped up. The poolside restaurant was great as well - we ate there a couple of times, with the highlight being whole calamari cooked on a wood-fired BBQ. And they did great cocktails for €5. The staff were super - encouraging as my oldest son tried out his GCSE Spanish and equally willing to speak English with us. They also saved the day when my youngest boy lost a treasured teddy bear, who got taken away with the dirty sheets - 'El Oso' was found and returned in 30 minutes, to rapturous thanks. Collapse

Not very clean bedrooms with old rusty bath/shower. It took 2 days to get extra pillows. Piano bar was never used as a "piano Bar" more for kids showtime. The place was swarming with children from different schools which made the "Quite Pool" a joke more like a parents and kids fun pool with Scuba diving lessons thrown in. Small shop on site with no drinks except warm water, no ice cream or "fridge" just out on the grounds beside the large pool but be prepared to wait for service. Food was ok but after 7 days of nearly the same thing it gets a little boring. Want a change? need to go miles for a good night out €25 taxi to Estepona same for Marbella which were good nights out. Want a game of Golf at this golf hotel!! you need to go by Buss. To end on a good note the, most of the staff were very nice but I'm afraid I won't be back. Collapse

Hotel rooms spacious but a little tired. Much larger hotel than we thought, long way to our room from restaurant, reception etc. Right on sea front but very isolated to catch local transport, long walk to main highway, 20 mins bus to Estepona or Marbella. Food disappointing, always luke warm, most meats over cooked. Salads, bread, desserts etc all very nice. Afternoon coffee and cake in piano bar a must. Collapse
