Lovely hotel. Friendly staff and good food. Room was adequate and clean. Pool is a bit small and could do with a revamp. Location is great with good connections and lots of parking. Reasonably priced too for the area.

Check in was fine, if a little slow. Arrived in the room ready for a relaxing bath after the long journey, hadn't planned on having to clean the hairs our of it first! Bathroom not clean at all, hairs all over the bathroom. After reading the other reviews this is a common trend, maybe hire some new cleaning staff? The room was very basic with limited toiletries and no wash cloth/ flanel available. Absolutely not a 4 star, more like a very basic motorway hotel. Collapse

Advert was decribed as hotel and spa. The spa was a complete let down.the pool was small and the feature waterfall was not working and covered in rust. Our room was ok but there was electrical wire from a previous light fitting poking out of the wall with tape wrapped round it. Sofa bed was minging and the bath didnt drain well so you had to shower in a pool of water .a member of staff in the breakfast room didnt speak english and didnt understand our room number to book us in . The entrance and foyer look very grand but the rest of the hotel was a let down. Apart from the dining in the restaurant inin the evening the whole visit was a let down Collapse
Overpriced and deeply mediocre

Biggest complaint is that the beds are very uncomfortable. Like springy hammocks. I had one of the "suites" (the second tier of rooms) and it was a pleasant space. The furnishings were shabby and showed wear. And the telly is only in the sitting room: there is no way to watch it whilst lying in bed. The food in the restaurant is pretty grim - I don't recommend having dinner there. Breakfast was OK. It's a typical hotel breakfast buffet and I don't remember it being bad in any striking way. The service seemed fine. Friendly reception. They were put under great strain by the arrival of a gypsy wedding party. My friend and I went downstairs to see and it was... colourful. Some of the staff in the bar didn't look like they knew what hit them, but they kept their composure and dealt with it pretty well. I saw a review from the same time that mentioned screaming local teenagers gathering in the car park. They weren't locals - this was the wedding party. I believe some of them were even on the room (there's a stairway leading to what appears to be staff accommodation up there and I think some guests were up there carousing.) This sort of noise did not occur any other night of the stay, The swimming pool is very nice, and they gym better than one usually finds in hotels. There was a halfway decent array of free weights: I was even able to do deadlifts with a barbell. Collapse

I came here on a spa break with a friend for one night on a really good deal £95 included one treatment and use of the facilities also breakfast. The hotel was quite busy there was a large number of guests staying for various celebrations the pool sauna area was very small so could not really accommodate the number of guests so the hotel staggered ppl going into the pool some had been waiting in the bar for some time before they were allowed in we were lucky as we happened to come down at the right time and didn't have to wait. The robe I was given had seen better days for sure and the lady supervising the pool seemed a bit short tempered but was probably having to deal with unhappy ppl waiting so I shouldnt be surprised. The jacuzzi was nice but pool itself was very compact the hotel definitely needs to extend this area or have less ppl in the pool. The back massage was lovely thanks this was well needed. The breakfast was nice usual hot buffet provided with cakes tea coffee. Dinner the night before was nice too may be a little on the small side and also a few ingredients missing no horse radish in the horse radish mash for e.g. The room was a good size with tea and coffee it was clean the bed comfortable. For the price I paid I can't complain it was a well needed break for me. Collapse
