Very basic apartments. Could not locate the reception however called the out of hours mobile number (we arrived at 1am)and a gentleman gave us the code to retrieve our key from the small wall mounted boxes outside the shop. Couldn't locate the office to officially check in the next day either. The apartment was spotlessly clean however very dated apart from the bathroom, (which had been upgraded and was aesthetically very pleasing however the smell from the drains into shower was awful). We managed to sort this by ourselves by pouring bleach down each day as we could not find any staff to assist with this. We couldn't get the heating to work and the small heater in the bedroom didn't work either as the socket and plug had both melted. As we only used this as a base (we stayed in Barcelona for a few nights) these issues didn't really bother us however if this was our main summer holiday I would've moved to another hotel. Basically, you get what you pay for and it depends on how much time you spend in your apartment whether you find it value for money or not. Collapse

Los Peces is not a 5 star apartment, so if you want a place to sleep, and spend most of your time relaxing on the beach which is a 5 minute walk away, and visiting the places of interest or shopping this is the place for you. Salou is a excellent resort and close (2 hours) from Barcelona and half hour from Tarragona, both a good day out. A usual Spanish resort with English pubs and english food, however if you've got a few bob there are expensive Spanish, Chinese and Thia restaurants around. Locals are very friendly and helpful. Buses to nearby resorts and beaches are excellent value and regular. Apartment had all you need for self catering, but bring a kettle. Only downside was with it being in the heart of Salou, it can get noisy once the clubs have closed and singing revellers may wake you up in the middle of the night, mainly at weekends, I suggest taking ear plugs. Not a bad holiday though, if you don't spend time whinging about the apartment and go out and enjoy yourselves. Collapse

After reading some of the reviews it was good to see that it wasn't at all like they describe. For the price you pay, you can't grumble. It is basic but you're on holiday, get out and see the sights!! Yes you have to pay €50 per person deposit but you do get it back on departure. The location was fab, from our 2 bed apartment you could see the beach and sea. A lovely supermarket under the apartments, 5l of water €0.80 - bargain!. Try the Fox and Hounds restaurant, huge portions and really cheap. The Brown Cow is another you should visit too. Everything is within walking distance, bigger supermarkets, shops and tobaconists. We enjoyed our stay and would go back. Xx Collapse

There was 101 things wrong with that place I really do not know where to start so I will go from the beginning. 1. Upon arrival we had to wait over an hour out side with all our luggage in the queue to be able to check in. Bloody ridiculous . The reason for this is that the reception is for several different apartment blocks and is quite simply not big enough to handle that and nor dose it have the manpower. 2. I was asked to pay a 50 euro deposit per person which is fine in case of any damages caused. However I was not expecting to be asked that nor did I see any kind of upfront information online neither did I have a substantial amount of euros on me so I offered my bank card. I was advised that my visa debit card would not be accepted it would have to be a credit card or cash. I dont own a credit card so I had to go away and get 200 euros and was told to rejoin queue which took another half hour is a joke. So took an hour an a half stood in 30 degree heat with all my family and suitcases and I was relived of a couple of hundred euros for the pleasure to be able to check in. 3. It needs to be noted that during the two weeks I was there I saw several people check in and hand over a visa debit card for there deposit? So why did I have to provide cash and was told conflicting information? I really think it was just down to whom you saw. 4. When we entered our apartment we were gob smacked. My Wife and 2 Daughters burst in to tears and cried. Honestly it was dirty. If it wasn't dirty it was broken and if it wasn't broken it needed maintenance. Now whilst I fully appreciate this is not a 5 star hotel and maids cant check every kook and cranny basic standards were not meet. You have know ideal what a bad start to our holiday this was. 5. Me and my Wife went and brought some cleaning materials and gave the place a clean. We had to empty out all the cupboards wipe them out. Wash up all pots and pans, cutlery and crockery before we were able to use any thing. I didnt come on holiday to do that. 6.a. The toilet had a vile stench of urine which we could not get rid of even after scrubbing it. b. The toilet seat was so lose it was like being on the walsers at the fun fair and I had to tighten it up. c. The cistern in the toilet did not work properly and the flush constantly ran. I did ajdust it and make it better but could not make it stop so you could always hear drip it especially at night. d. I even turnt of the water to the toilet to stop flow of water and guess what ? that valve didnt work either 7. The actual cooker had power going to it because the digital clock was on but the cooker it self did not work. We had to throw away food because of this. 8. We had a hob with 3 electric rings. When you put more that one on it would trip the whole apartment. Lights sockets air con not just the cooker. If you were showering you would be in pitch black. Making the most simple of tasks like frying an egg very hard work. We even tried turning of everything leaving just the cooker hob and it would still trip the whole fuse board. 9. The small freezer located in the fridge would not even freeze an ice lolly, we had to dispose of more food has it would not freeze any thing. How ever if you wanted to defrost some thing from frozen that was the place to put it. The fridge its self was working fine. 10. We had a washing machine which was dead handy or so I thought! I went to use it and despite it being plugged and plumbed in didnt work. When I reported the fault to reception the man argued with me saying their wasnt even a washing machine in my room?? I was advised not to use it I yet again explained I wasnt able to because it was broke hence me reporting it!! 11. The patio doors on the balcony did not lock jeopardizing the security of our room. 12. For the first 10 days of our stay there was constant drilling then a massive hole was made beside the pool. Yet again no prior warning of this inconvenience. 13. This building did not sleep. It is not advertised as a 18-30 for people who wanted to party threw the night. Guests would return 6/7 am with no respect for any one else and continue their party. We rarely slept. Security was constantly fighting a losing battle. 14. We had 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels between all of us. I requested some more bath ones and was told told they do not supply them when I already had 2 in my room. It took some persuading but I manged to get some. 15.There was no maid service provided at all so we had to take out our own rubbish and wash towels yet again no mention of this on web site. 16. The microwave had caught on fire 17. You could constantly see and smell teenagers participating in the smoking of cannabis. At first I did report my bad experiences having to queue up for ages and only to be told, and I quote 'this is saluo' and 'what did i expect?' is hardly the attitude to have. If this place was cheap and cheerful you could take no notice but it certainly was not cheap. Collapse
