Value for the price? Questionable & Maintenance Supervisor Doesn't Care! Expensive Parking

This hotel is right of the 405 freeway. It's in a good location if you are heading north in the morning as most traffic is headed south in the morning. My room was situated on the 10th floor facing the freeway with a view of the Bell Air homes across the way. Checking in was great, but the trouble started in my room. It was some what small, very modern, clean, with a fridge, sliding glass door, and the bed was large. My biggest issue was that the A/C started to come on by it's self, even if turned off or even if the heat was on. The head maintenance supervisor tried to tell me that it was a cost saving feature in the hotel to regulate the temperature. What? So if you want your room at 73 it will still kick on and set it to 68? And if I have the sliding door open, which I did, it that saving electricity? Out of the 10 hotels on this business trip I have never had this issue. Ultimately I had it disconnected all together. I had dinner at the West restaurant on the top floor. They weren't busy, but it took a while to take my order for some reason. I ordered from the menu he gave me. Once he took my order another couple sat near me and he gave them two different menus, which I was not offered. Annoying, but the food I ordered was excellent. I didn't notice how loud the traffic was until I went to bed. It's non stop 24/7! If your a light sleeper you might have trouble getting some sleep. The bed was comfortable enough that I was able to sleep. They have great black out blinds that stop light, but not the noise. I would not stay here with my family, better for business trips. Collapse
It's Just Too Damn Loud

I'm torn about how to write this review. For those who are cost conscious and need to be in this part of LA (near the Getty, Santa Monica, Wilshire, Brentwood), it is affordable compared to nearby hotels. But you do get what you pay for. It's ON the freeway. Not near but on. In most cities the land where this hotel is located would be covered in ice plant. We needed to be at a friend event nearby and were told this place had comfortable rooms. And it does - sort of. Since it was about half the cost of places in Santa Monica we went for one of their 3 suites. Ours was room 1402 which is located on the back side of the hotel and theoretically has a view of the ocean. (Too foggy and cloudy.) But even up that high and on that side of the hotel the noise is exhausting. (BTW - cool balconies are accessible in each room.) The suite had two rooms. Functional (ie: hard) sofa and chair, coffee table, TV, lamp in one room along with fridge, coffee maker etc. Other room was King bed, TV and bath. Bed was OK. Pillows were boulders. Bathroom was modern and cool - huge square flat sink, etc - but the water pressure was awful. It was like taking a shower with a mist machine instead of a shower head. Took a good 10 minutes to wash hair. They've done about as much as can be done with this old property. It's quirky and cool and historic but it probably should just be an office building. The folks are nice, the price is right but the location and the noise overwhelm everything good. If you are on a budget, need to be in this area and you are not effected by constant street noise, then go for it. If you choose a hotel for relaxation, comfort, a getaway - then get away. This is not your spot. I give the management credit for adding cool features and comforts but they just can't overcome the location. Travel safe. Collapse

Located close to the freeway, this hotel is very convenient for business Travel in LA. The room was big and well appointed. The bathroom had more clean towels than I’ve seen in a hotel in a while. Staff was very nice. I ate at the restaurant on the top floor. Great view and very good food but not inexpensive. Dinner for one with two glasses of wine was $95. They don’t encourage tips as they say they pay their employees well; nice touch. If you are a light sleeper, this may not be the best option. I was in a room on the side of the freeway, and could hear the cars all night. My colleague was on the other side and said it wasn’t as bad. Great value for LA though. Collapse

Despite the exceptional view from my room located at the tenth floor, the experience at Hotel Angeleno was not memorable. The lady at the reception desk when I checked out was really friendly and she helped me a lot, The rest of the staff looked tired, just like the property itself. In my opinion it is overpriced to be a three star hotel. Anyway, it can be a nice solution for the people who need a place along the highway, not far from L.A. city center. Collapse
A little gem!

Hello everyone! We came back 3 weeks ago from California and we stayed at this WONDERFUL little hotel. The hotel was not big but just perfect. Wonderfully located. Minutes away from Beverly Hills, Rodeo drive, and 10-15 minutes from Hollywood’s Blvd. Very clean, modern and the staff was very friendly! A very special shoutout to Lesly! She was absolutely wonderful! She went out of her way to make sure we were happy and that our wedding anniversary and my 40th birthday was memorable! The only negative comment I can say is, we can hear the traffic off the highway. For those who are light sleepers, this may be an inconvenience. For us, we were more then ok with it. Collapse
