I was completely blown away when I arrived at the hotel. A magnificent building which was once an insurance company. Grand entrance and frontage, stained glass on the windows. Very friendly welcome at reception and a great room. Rooms are well appointed with the largest bed I have ever slept in at any hotel in the UK. room with a safe, all the usual amenities. Grand staircase leading to the lobby. Fantastic well lit breakfast area and eggs to order for breakfast. Even got a large flsk of freshly brewed coffee, the best I have had in a long time. An unexpected bonus was the laundry room in the basement. What more can anyone ask for. Only downside? I will never be satisfied with any other hotel. Just go there will you Collapse

This hotel is very central and everything is within easy walking distance. we were a group of 6 and had 3 two. Rooms good size clean and comfortable. However no mirror in bedroom in one room and one of the sliding doors to the shower/toilet very stiff. Staff lovely, food good, service excellent. Nothing too much trouble. Not everything perfect but sorted out promptly and efficiently and overall great value of money and experience Collapse

Lovely hotel that has somehow retained its historic integrity and integrated a modern interior design. The rooms are very clean and well proportioned. The bathroom is small but cool in its appearance and the shower is spacious. It was unusual to have complimentary bottles of water and it was a welcome surprise. The bar area is comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Great to have a free pool table but it needs some maintenance Overall it was a great spot, only a short walk to the docks and lots of restaurants and coffee bars, I would say that this end of town has more traditional pubs that seemed very popular. The hotel only lost a point because the way the bathroom is designed you need to be very comfortable with your room mate as it's quite intimate and we were facing the alley so it was dark with no nice view but this also made it quiet. I would definitely stay here again Collapse

We had organised a hen party for our friend which included a lovely 3 course meal (great food on the set menu!), the gorgeous mezzanine space which we had all to ourselves and a cocktail masterclass in the mezzanine. The staff were wonderful and nothing was too much effort, we ran late and that didn't cause any issues. We were able to decorate the space for the bride to be and the level of service at our table set in a perfect location in the NYL restaurant below the mezzanine and right by the live musicians was great (how they managed to provide such high level of service to two hen parties at the same time and make us all feel VIPs is beyond me). The cocktail masterclass was a favourite with our group of over 20 women and Connor and Anthony were fantastic cocktail making instructors! Thank you guys. We have already said we are going back to sample the food at the NYL restaurant for other events and may even extend to a night stay to check out the accommodation. A massive thank you to the superb staff, this really is a fantastic venue right in the heart of Liverpool. Try it yourself you won't be disappointed. Collapse

I have just returned from a lovely three day stay here and would definitely like to return. I loved the look of the hotel, and how it has been tastefully modernised, keeping the lovely staircase and wood panelling in the bar area. The staff were efficient but friendly and helpful. Breakfast reasonably priced at £10, and a well stocked bar. The hotel is so close to the Cavern and the shops/bars etc. There are a couple of nice pubs close by and lots of good restaurants to chose from just round the corner in Castle St. The Turkish restaurant just a few doors down does a good breakfast too for a very reasonable price (Shiraz). The twin room I shared was well equipped and spacious, with a decent hairdryer and an iron/ ironing board. Apart from a few noisy guests staying on the same floor who seemed to want to talk as loud as they could and bang doors at 3 in the morning I had a great time. Would definitely recommend Collapse
