The hotel location was convenient to the center of Barcelona. We were able to get to Park Guell in 10 min, or to the Latin quarter in 10 min. Also in a location that's very walkable. The room had all the modern amenities with beautiful crown molding on the ceiling. The best part was the balcony where we would have wine and a cheese plate in our room, or tea in the mornings. Staff was helpful and friendly as well. Collapse

The location was very good, close to shopping and hop-on/hop-off bus stop, which we used extensively. Reasonable walk to Placa de Catalunya and La Sagrada Familia. Would definitely stay here again. This is a fantastic hotel located in a very nice area of Barcelona (the nicest neighborhood). There is a ton to do around the hotel--great restaurants and cafe's, and many of the well-known Barcelona attractions are within walking distance. If you find that you do need a cab, they are easy to get, and going anywhere is under 10 Euro. The staff is also very helpful with recommendations, and the rooms are relatively large for a European Hotel. This is a fantastic hotel and I highly recommend it. The only issue is that the beds (or at least the one in our room) was VERY firm. Nonetheless, I slept well. Collapse

Spent 2 nights here using Hilton Honors points (180k). We were recognized as Hilton Honors members and were upgraded. Room was large, bathroom was large, nice toiletries view of the pool in the back. No need to bring an adapter for charging your mobile as the front desk staff will lend you one (if you don't return it costs 20 Euros). Bed was very comfortable and hotel is very quiet. Very clean hotel. Collapse

This is my third review of this hotel, but as it is a few years since our last stay, and the hotel has rebranded as a Curio (from previously being a DoubleTree), I thought that it is worth another review. Firstly, I have to say that this hotel has something of a hold over us, as we visit Barcelona reasonably regularly (most years, sometimes a couple of times) and always stay at the Alexandra. We have many pleasant memories of previous visits. We didn't visit Barcelona in 2017, so this was our first visit for two years. A few things have changed in that time. As well as the rebranding of the hotel, the restaurant has changed, for example. As we are a family of three, we are a little restricted in the rooms available to us (a common problem in continental Europe). The negative of this is that it is quite expensive, but the big positive is that the available rooms are fantastic. We love the Junior Suite with Terrace, which has a bath our on the Terrace (which our son loves) and allows us to sit outside well into the evening. The room hasn't changed noticeably, but here is the negative from this stay. In places it needs some attention. One of the doors in the bathroom sticks, which could mean that someone is temporarily stuck in the toilet. We also had problems with the coffee machine. The pervious guests had obviously had trouble, as they left an unused capsule in the machine, and we had to call for assistance to get it working. Maintenance came and got it working, but when I tried to make a second cup it just leaked water. It really is time to buy a new machine I think. And that is the only negative. The service was friendly, the room still comfortable, sitting outside having a few drinks is very pleasant, and the food (we just ate at the downstairs bar) was exceptional. Obviously the location is still the same. Local to many attractions and not far from a metro. This is in some ways an unfair review. I am very biased towards this place, but it takes something to create that level of loyalty to a hotel. Nothing has changed, and I look forward to our next visit. Collapse
