Stayed here in a family room. Bathroom required a thorough clean, black mould on sink and bath. Not sure toilet had been cleaned at all. An empty wine bottle under my daughters bed and the tea cups required washing. Food hygiene rating on door says 5 but it was re done last year and only got a 3. We booked BB evening meal and paid extra to use the pool! Why guests are charged is beyond me. No info given at check in about anything had to ask. We had ordered bubbly and chocolates, we had to ask for them twice. Chocolate never appeared until my husband complained a 3rd time at checkout. We were given the chocolates then. Unfortunately when we got home we realised they went out of date last August! I had an early breakfast due to going on a course. One man wandering around in a tracksuit, not sure if he was a member of staff or the repair man, he did have a badge, helped himself to some food on his way through. Continental breakfast left out, nothing covered, everything very dry. I have made a formal complaint via email, as head office requested. Still not had a reply. Back to the Marriott next time where there staff are trained, the rooms are clean and they don’t change for a swim. Would never stay again. Collapse

This 'hotel' is dire. The rooms are not cleaned to an appropriate standard, from dirty windows, grubby walls, hairs on the floor. Carpet is ripped. As I am writing this review the person in the next room is smoking and it's coming into our room. I've complained once already to reception but they have been ineffective. I've got the iPod and earpods in so I don't have to listen to the neighbours both sides. The bathrooms are outdated and you would struggle to swing a small cat in there. I daren't try the shower. There's nothing good about it, including the bar where we couldn't get a drink because they claim their card machines are out of order. Maybe the service has been withdrawn by the provider? We said never mind, we can put it on the bill. We have to set up an account. What? They already have our card details from checking in. Anyway we looked at each other with rolled eyes and went to the vine up the road for a very nice dinner and a beer. Oh, and the aircon didn't work. Oh yes, we asked for a quiet room so our room overlooks the car park where people roll their bags on the concrete when coming in. I'm sure you get the picture. Think I should ask my bank for a chargeback as it's so ****. Forgot to mention the pool with filthy surrounds where you really don't want to walk with bare feet. And so on. Collapse
Ok for a night

Basic rooms, maybe a bit outdated, and the food in the bar is just average. Ok if you're just staying a night before/after a flight but wouldn't stay any longer. Rooms are basic and clean and that's all that's needed for a quick stay

I don't usually write reviews but this place is so bad I had to. Stayed here Tues 17/04/2018. Reception lady with blonde hair was very rude. Rolled her eyes at me when I didn't provide her with the convenient answers she needed to make her job easier. She Pointed at a poster when I asked her kindly what their wi-fi policy was. Room is terribly dated. The communal carpers all the way on the first floor to my room were so worn i nearly tripped over on it. Slept OK and lady at breakfast was lovely. This place needs some serious money invested to bring it up to current expected standards if cheeky enough to charge 75.00 per night mid week. Get it sorted. Collapse

I’ve read the bad reviews about this place and I think people have been really harsh and need to give the hotel a bit of slack. I think for what I paid for the room which included an 11 night car park stay was absolutely brilliant. The room was basic, but exactly what I expected for the price. It was spacious though and clean, which is what’s really important. My only grumbles are I had to carry my big heavy suitcase up steep, steep stairs and couldn’t find a lift -their might not be one- plus one spotlight and phone didn’t appear to work. Not necessities to be fair. Receptionist was very friendly and the guys at the bar were really cheerful. The hotel will let us get our heads down from the long drive down to Manchester so we can get up bright and early for our big flight and we can rest easy our car is safe. We saved money using this place and overall so long as you are realistic the place is perfectly nice :) Collapse
