As hotels go, this contemporary style may not suit everyone. Staff are friendly, accommodation is good as is the location of the hotel. The hotel bar and eating arrangements are not ideal. Using the ‘bar’ and a table ‘island’ for serving breakfast on a busy conference morning was a little shambolic despite the best efforts of the staff to keep tables clear for arriving guests. That and the lack of bar staff in the evening were the only negatives. Collapse

Booking made in February 2019, via the Manchester Pride ‘recommended’ hotels. Option of 2 rates: (around) £250 for a non refundable option, £297 for a free cancellation ... all seems well? On the safe side, booked the more expensive rate as a just in case - on this occasion we now have engagements which means we are no longer able to Attend the whole weekend, so called to cancel the room - as the confirmation email states along with full booking details. Receptionist politely informed me you are unable to cancel the reservation because this is an advanced rate (please see booking confirmation picture). Much to my confusion, explained what I had booked, but again told I was incorrect and the confirmation wouldn’t state a cancellation period after 24hrs post booking (essentially, I could have cancelled but only upto 24hrs after the reservation was made). Accepting what the receptionist told me I decided to look into this further, to wake up this morning to £297.00 being taken from my account - to the AC Marriott Salford Keys. To clarify, the reservation was made on 25th Feb 19, and check on 23rd Aug 19 - and the payment taken directly from my account on 4th May 19, strange? After speaking with my bank, they confirmed the payment had been processed manually under a ‘card not present’ setting and a dispute has been raised directly with the bank as no payments were authorised and worse still not mentioned whilst speaking to the hotel directly!! Upon the banks instruction to speak with the hotel to clarify why the payment was taken whilst they investigate the potentially fraudulent activity I call them back, I was again told I was unable to cancel my reservation, again... and again and again! Without being given the opportunity to send my confirmation to the hotel directly to investigate I was simply palmed off to the central reservations team (pass the buck comes to mind) and unsurprisingly I was immediately cut off upon ‘transfer’ to the centralised team. I called back the receptionist and asked to be transferred through or to be simply dealt with at the hotel I was scheduled to stay at. Then only was I given the opportunity to send my reservation confirmation by email to the hotel directly, it then became clear that I COULD cancel my reservation as THEIR confirmation email stated. (Pass the buck round 2 begins) At this point I was given a shabby explanation that the receptionist the day prior had ‘amended’ my rate, therefore not allowing any cancellations to be made, which in turn meant the ‘night team’ would manually take the payment from my account. Again, somewhat confused - why was I not informed of this? If a payment was simply going to come out of my account of £297, would that not be something to inform me of , for instance when I WAS ON THE PHONE in the first instance ; prior to getting my bank involved and raising a dispute AND having to then call back again with further evidence that I was well within my rights to cancel (months prior to check in!!). At this point cancelling my room seemed as easy as a click of a button to the reservationist!!! Owing to the conduct of said employee’s , ‘processes?’ and sheer lack in customer service I felt it only fitting to raise a formal complaint. In the hotels defence, a call back from a manger was made promptly - that’s where the ‘good’ bits start and end. Speaking to the operations manager, he confirmed that I was on the ‘wrong rate’, to which I could only confirm, I booked at a rate advertised on the official Pride website, where the cancellation policy was clearly stated and the alternative rates displayed. I attempted to clarify to the ‘manager’ that if I have booked through an official event website, you can certainly expect others too, and therefore would be on the same ‘wrong rate’ to me, regardless of what was advertised - the manger informed me he will look into this and get the ‘codes’ (which apply the rates) amended on the other reservations. BEWARE , if this happens the nights team (easiest to blame) WILL charge your card. Given the chance the hotel had the opportunity to inform me on my first call that this was a process, and they didn’t I sorely think you have much chance of being informed either! Choose a reputable hotel, and don’t make the mistake I did with these cowboys! **Enjoy Pride 2019 if you’re going!** Collapse

We stayed here for one night prior to a Coronation Street visit. The hotel was smart, modern and sparklingly clean. The staff members were extremely helpful, especially the gentleman on reception and the waitress who went out of her way to find me a fortune cookie when I wanted a biscuit to go with my cup of tea at breakfast. The room had adequate hanging space and a comfortable bed. We particularly enjoyed tapas in the evening and felt that our dinner, bed and breakfast deal was very good value. We would stay here again on our next visit to Manchester. Collapse

Stayed 1 night using Marriott points for a Manchester United match. Good location. Room was fine but could hear someone snoring in the next room which which was annoying. Felt really sorry for the person sleeping next to them! Front desk arranged a taxi to pick us up early the next morning & take us to the airport. Word of warning, ask before you get in the taxi if they take credit cards. We did not ask & had spent almost all of our GBP since we were leaving that morning. Had to go to the cash machine inside the airport & withdraw $200 (the minimum)! That was one expensive cab ride to the airport! We had taken many cabs during the week in the UK & ALL took credit or debit cards. Lesson learned. I'd stay here again if I am ever lucky enough to go to another Man U match! Collapse

After a nightmare with another hotel (we walked out!), we thankfully managed to book a room in this amazing hotel. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a wonderful receptionist. The hotel is absolutely spotless! The rooms are modern, spacious, and SPOTLESS! I'm sorry to repeat 'spotless' but after our first hotel 'cesspit' disaster I had become rather 'germ' paranoid. When we walked into the bedroom I was extremely relieved, proceeded to sit on the bed and cried; a joy and stress mixture. So, less about me, more about the hotel. First impression: 10/10 Staff: 10/10 Amenities: 10/10 Food from the bar: 10/10 Breakfast: 10/10 Rooms: SPOTLESS Hotel: SPOTLESS Staff: SPOTLESS All in all 'SPOTLESS!' Collapse
