Couvent Des MInimes

Stay Date: 26/03/15, a customer aged 65+ from Ramsgate who stayed at 4* Couvent des Minimes Hotel in Lille wrote this review.

An excellent, although pricey, very unusual hotel. It is a cleverly, tastefully converted old convent. Lovely central bar and restaurant area. A little difficult to find in a car but within easy See More  Read more information walking distance of the town centre.   Collapse  Hide

3 days in Lille

Stay Date: 07/04/15, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 4* Couvent des Minimes Hotel in Lille wrote this review.

Arriving at Hotel Couvent Des Minimes was magical. The wonderful sparkling water side just lights up its shadows to reveal a beautiful structure. The corridor to the bedroom is steeped in history; See More  Read more information you can just imagine the monks in prayer many years ago. The scrumptious hotel food melts in your mouth and the wine whisks you to a dream of a time gone by. The cobbled streets in old town gives wayto modern shops and the air is filled with fantastic coffee and patisserie aromas. The driver-less metro whizzes about the city in an exciting, cool way and you wonder where it will take you next. Themajestic buildings call to you to visit them then on to the wonderful squares. The open spaces beckon you to wander around and then to rest in them and absorb what they have to offer. The wholeexperience makes you want to never leave Lille. Thank you for a wonderful time.   Collapse  Hide

Too short Super Break

Stay Date: 16/04/15, a customer aged 65+ who stayed at 3* Timhotel Paris Gare de l’est in Paris wrote this review.

The hotel was spotless but the shower was very small and awkward to enter and exit. The wardrobe was also quite small. The hotel was an easy walk from the Gare du Nord, and was in a great location See More  Read more information for getting around. The dining room was also spotless and the tables were cleared very quickly. The staff were very polite and helpful. There is a park almost opposite the hotel which was clean andfull of blossom trees. The Canal St.Martin is a short walk away. Make sure you visit L'Atmosphere for a meal -the food is fantastic and inexpensive. Bouillon Chartier Restaurant was well worth standingin the queue - it moved quite quickly and was very organised. The waiting staff had phenomenal memories as they write your order on the paper table cloth not on a note pad, and somehow remembered whatyou ordered and when to bring the next course and they were extremely cheerful and friendly- it was like visiting Paris from yesteryear. L'As du Fallafel was well worth a visit as the queue isorganised and they take you order and payment whilst you are queueing. The only downside is finding somewhere to sit and eat it. Take care crossing roads - the metro and RER are easy to navigate, buy acarnet of 10 tickets and ask for a free map (if you can wait this is cheaper at the metro). Try to avoid the metro when the Parisiens are trying to get to work as the carriages are packed, even so peopleremained very polite. Be prepared for beggars in the streets, metro and especially the Gare du Nord. The toilets below the Sacre - Coeur are beyond description however there is a kiosk and shop next tothe funicular and the toilets are spotless it cost €1 but was well worth it. The coffee is really nice and great after climbing to the top of The Dome's 300 steps - well worth it for a great 360view. Make sure you use the toilets in shops, cafes and museums before you leave. If you can, try to go to Sainte-Chapelle and Musee d'Orsay in time for opening as the queues get very long.   Collapse  Hide

3 days in Paris

Stay Date: 27/05/15, a customer aged 45-64 from Harrogate who stayed at 3* Avalon Hotel Gare du Nord in Paris wrote this review.

Hotel in good location for Gare du Nord but the area is unpleasant. The rooms and corridors in desperate need of decorating as felt tired and depressing. Beds very comfortable but on 2 occasions I See More  Read more information asked for an extra pillow which I did not get. The room got very warm (daytime temperatures were 20c average) and if you ventilated by opening the windows it was far too noisy to sleep from thetraffic, sirens and people. Wi-Fi was good at the hotel. Breakfast choices good.   Collapse  Hide

Stay Date: 27/07/15, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 3* Gounod Nice in Nice wrote this review.

The hotel's situation is a medium See More  Read more information length walk from public transport links but a weekly pass from the local transport company proved good value, enabling journeys to various museums and attractions in Nice, and to towns further afield,at a very reasonable cost.
