Saunders v Murray - SHOW RESCHEDULED

WBO Middleweight World Champion Billy Joe Saunders has suffered an injury to his hand that has scuppered his plans to defend his title against Martin Murray on Saturday 14th April at The 02 in London. Saunders, who suffered his injury during a training session, is devastated that he will not be fit to box on April 14th as he was looking forward to producing another masterclass after his career-best performance against David Lemieux at the Place Bell in Laval, Canada in December. He will now make the fourth defence of his WBO crown against Murray at The O2 on Saturday 23rd June, topping an action-packed card that features Anthony Yarde, Daniel Dubois, Ohara Davies and a host of other exciting match-ups.

About World Championship Boxing - Saunders v Murray

Frank Warren presents a double World Title card on Saturday 23rd June 2018 at The O2.

The main event will be Billy Joe Saunders’ defence of his WBO World Middleweight title against domestic rival Martin Murray. Fresh from a career best performance in Montreal against the highly-rated Canadian David Lemieux, Billy Joe Saunders is looking to cement his position as one of the UK’s best pound-for-pound boxers. Saunders has already fought and beaten other domestic rivals such as Andy Lee, Chris Eubank Jr. and Gary O’Sullivan and will be hoping to add Murray’s name to that list in April. However the St Helen’s man is a tough fighter who battled bravely against Middleweight king Gennady Golovkin and will be a difficult opponent.

Also on the bill is Terry Flanagan’s tilt at the vacant WBO World Super Lightweight title against unbeaten American Maurice Hooker.

Flanagan defended his 135lb Lightweight World Title five times before making the step up to Super Lightweight to challenge for the title. American Maurice Hooker is undefeated and will also give Flanagan a stern test on the night.

Highlights

  • Two world title fights on the same bill
  • The main event will be Billy Joe Saunders’ defence of his WBO World Middleweight belt
  • Includes 1-night hotel stay + World Championship Boxing ticket
