York, Full Of Suprises!

Stay Date: 15/10/10, a customer from United Kingdom who stayed at 5* The Principal York in York wrote this review.

A great place for a short break, full of overseas tourists. Once the second city of England, York retains a lot of the medieval character and has the great bonus that everything is walkable and See More  Read more information relatively car free in the centre. From the student haunts to the 4 star hotels, York has great variety to offer and many smaller intgeresting shops in the side streets. An out of town, but bus linkedretail centre will also keep the ladies busy! i have always loved markets, York has a great stall market to browse and look for that certain something that catches the eye. No ash clouds to worry about, get the train and have a car free break in a great city with the largest eclesiastical building in Western Europe (The Minster). Walk the walls and sit in a pavement cafe and watch the world go by.There are always spooky ghost tours in the evening to tell the stories of the past inhabitants who will not leave!.   Collapse  Hide

Ceder Grand Hotel

Stay Date: 22/10/10, a customer from United Kingdom who stayed at 5* Grand Hotel & Spa in York wrote this review.

Overall ok. However: - 1) not impressed that 1 of 2 lifts out of order for 2 days. Problems getting taxi arriving on time. 2)breakfast is by waiter service. Cooked breakfast smothered in rosemary See More  Read more information (unaware if this is some thing new), when asked for one without rosemary, it was dry and frankly I have had better in motorway service stations. 3) I had to ask for butter and marmalade as amountprovided on the table was insufficient. Rooms were very good and staff helpful. Like I said overall ok, but expected better.   Collapse  Hide
