Short Break in London

Stay Date: 16/07/08, a customer from Crewe who stayed at 3* Tavistock Hotel in Russell Square wrote this review.

This was our fifth stay at the Tavistock, this time for our son's graduation from the LSE. The hotel is excellently placed for Euston station. It's fairly basic but as it's cheap for London, that's See More  Read more information ok. Could do with more than 1 towel each though!!! No shampoo or shower gel/bath foam. However, the brekkie is substantial, the staff are lovely, although sometimes problems with the language, the viewfrom our room over Tavistock Square great, the beds comfy. No air con so a bit warm at night and far too noisy to have the window open!!! Buses are much better for getting around than tubes - yousee the sites as you go and can get off if there's a holdup!!! Get an Oyster card!!!   Collapse  Hide

Motor Show Holiday

Stay Date: 24/07/08, a customer from North Yorkshire who stayed at 3* Imperial Hotel London in Russell Square wrote this review.

The Imperial Hotel was nothing short of excellent & good value for money in London, not hotel fault but kept awake by traffic. Ask for a room at the back in future. The 8.00pm return train to York See More  Read more information was totally overcrowded and we sat on the floor all the way to Doncaster. Recommend seat reservations in future. If enough time recommend walking rather than the tube as you see lots and soak up theatmosphere.   Collapse  Hide

A Good Weekend in London

Stay Date: 18/07/08, a customer from Lancashire who stayed at 3* St Giles London - A St Giles Hotel in Oxford Street wrote this review.

Our hotel, the St Giles, was excellently situated, and this is about the best thing we can say about it, apart from the fact that we were surprised to be offered a smoking room. Room very shabby and See More  Read more information small. Windows so poor it was very noisy. Lighting in room inadequate. Double bed very small. Bathroom not particularly clean. Needs a complete overhaul. Breakfast good apart from no toast or friedeggs. Having said all that would stay again purely from location point of view.   Collapse  Hide

Overnight Stop

Stay Date: 26/07/08, a customer from Bicester who stayed at 3* Damson Dene Hotel & Leisure Club in Crosthwaite (Nr. Bowness) wrote this review.

Hotel room was not 3*, you could only just squeeze around bed, and the window was only a half window which opened onto roof of enclosed area giving no fresh air. Our trip out was very good. Grand Hotel Scarborough

Stay Date: 25/07/08, a customer from Wishaw who stayed at 3* Grand Hotel Scarborough (3 or 4 night Half Board Offer) in Scarborough wrote this review.

The hotel is undergoing much needed refurbishment, the room was comfortable with excellent bathroom. The exterior of the building is infested with nesting seagulls which are noisey and messy! The See More  Read more information noise they make from dawn would disturb the heaviest sleeper as they are roosting so close to the windows and much of the out-door furniture on the terrace was covered in droppings. Meals wereacceptable although service was not great, if you needed anything you had to look for staff who could be slow re-stocking the buffet. Bar prices were very high, even for a hotel. Maid service was minimal, binsweren't emptied nor bath cleaned. Parking was a problem, once you find a space on the surrounding streets you can buy a guest's parking permit for £4.50 a day, I still got a parking ticket as thewarden apparently didn't think the permit was valid! On the plus side there was entertainment laid on every night which was of a good standard although seating was very limited. The public areas of thehotel were comfortable and toilets were kept in reasonable order. The location on the south bay was excellent for the town and front, the hotel is next to the lift which goes down the cliff to theshore. This could be so much better with a little thought and effort.   Collapse  Hide
